Dark Ale Blend with Coffee, Chocolate and Vanilla Aged in Bourbon Barrels
Complex and chimerical, this blend of dark ales has rested in freshly seasoned bourbon barrels selected from our southbound neighbors at New Riff Distilling. Uncoiling from oaken slumber, Mushhushshu exhales notes of chocolate, toasted vanilla, toffee and dark fruit—spry splendor time-tempered into mellow malt majesty.

Sample at the High Gravity Hullabaloo on 02/06/2016. Dark reddish-brown color with a medium foamy light beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, malt and oak. Medium body with flavors of figs, caramel malt, oaky vanilla and a bit of coffee. The finish is sweet with a fruity aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle shared during RBWG 2016 - many thanks to Peter. Pours clear, deep brown with a creamy beige head. The nose has heavy espresso, with undertones of baking cocoa, roast. Medium to big sweet flavor with more coffee, some sugary burnt caramel, dried semi-dark fruits, dates, raisins, bread. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming and sugary on the finish, with more coffee, espresso, earth, dates, cocoa. Novel stuff. A nice sipper.

Bottle shared at RBWG 2016. Many thanks to Homer for this one. Reddy mahogany brown coloured pour with a lasting mid tan head. Aroma is earthy roast coffee,, praline, vanilla. Flavour is composed of sweet coffee cake, vanilla, praline, earthy roast. Smooth sweet coffee. Palate is medium sweet, highish carbonation. Good coffee character and depth.

Bottle split in the hotel lobby, RBWG ’16, thanks to Phale 02/02/16. Rich mahogany brown with a decent beige covering. Nose is coffee fudge, dark malts, sweet tunes, restrained booze. Taste comprises coffee cake, sweet malt, dates, raisens, chocolate, light barrel. Full to medium body, fine carbonation, light warming booze in the close. Solid ... nice coffee profile.

Bottle at hotel lobby fart share @RBWG 2016. Thanks P. Hale. SLU. Almost opaque black liquid with medium tan head. Aroma of coffee, bourbon, espresso, raw sugar, toffee and caramel. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of bourbon, coffee and toffee. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Nice.
