Bouteille 750ml.

Weak fig nose, mild clove. Clear rust, medium tan head with little retention. Sweet plum and fig with blackberry and clove overtones. A bit like cough syrup though. Fig is significantly more dominant on the back of the palate. Rather vinous at times

750 ml bottle. Pours a dark mahogany color with a medium beige head. A big fruity toffee and leather nose. Rich, hot, caramel, berries, toffee, some yeast, dry, big fruit. Dusty. Very good, rich and .....decadent.

On tap at Alesmith. Pours with a clear bronze hued body with a tan head that lasts. Aromas are of big malt, alcohol, raisins, lightly spicy phenols, grain, plums, rich, light molasses, melanoidins, toffee. Despite all this decadence it still smells relatively dry. Flavors are rich and boozy with plums, brown sugar, molasses and rich esters. Richly malty, and decadent. Boozy, but with a relatively dry finish. Well made.

Growler from the brewery so I could really slowly savor and enjoy this. Clear cherry brown with a big, very heavy lacing, long lasting beige head. Nose is sweet black raisins, cloves, tons of sweet peanut brittle (minus the peanuts), hints of bubblegum and bready yeast. Flavor is sweet lightly caramelized sweetness, dark fruits, spiciness, and a tiny background of alcohol warmth. Wish I had a bunch of the bottles to age!

Capped 750 from Nugget Market in Davis, CA. Pours dark ruddy copper with a 3 finger creamy dark beige head. Aromas of treacle, dark fruit and maybe hop. Or not. Arguably full bodied. Flavor is very dark, enhanced by the ABV, and is imaginable as super dark fruit cake. There’s a light heat/spice combo burn. Every quaff is an interesting cycle of flavors and mouthfeel. I think I even get chocolate occasionally. Truly fantastic ale.The finish is not dry, but that would be wrong. It’s not overly sweet either. Seems just right.
