Bottled. Dark mahogany colour with quickly disappearing head. I dont get much out of the aroma, only the ginger. In taste first comes the sweet ginger, followed by some bitterish notes. Sweet finish, light body and soft carbonation. It’s like ginger was added to a bad ale to hide its flaws, but the original version is not a bad ale, so I dont really see the point.

Bottle 0,5ltr: Dark brown coloured brew with added ginger. Most ginger beers i’dont like, and this one i like slightly better. Pretty sweetbitter aftertaste.
If you like the ginger you get with sushi, this is the beer for you. I like ginger and this is a lot.

330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.0%. This is Old Tom blended with Fentimans Ginger Beer (the latter is actually not a beer at all, but a softdrink like "ginger ale" - only with REAL ginger as an ingredient). Mahogany coloured beer, big beige head. Distinct aroma of ginger, also fruity and slightly vinous notes, hints of caramel. The flavour is rich and sweet, a bit too much on the sugary side, with distinct notes of stem ginger in syrup. Some hops and a ginger burn in the finish. I definitely prefer the "ordinary" Old Tom to this one - and also Chocolate Tom if I need a change. However, Ginger Tom is far from undrinkable, if you happen to like ginger - which I fortunately do.

330ml bottle. Dark brown, small beige head, some retention. Aroma of ginger, cola, malts; interesting. Taste is big on the ginger, malts, sweet cola, herbal hops, spice from the ginger and a moderate bitterness combine in a dry finish. Moderate body, carbonation a little too spritzy. Decent interesting beer if a little unbalanced.

Bottle from Home Bargains As you would expect, a strong ginger nose. Pours rich ruby red with a transient off-white head. Some sweet malts initially on the tongue before the ginger drowns out everything else. Tons more ginger in the finish. Bit of a strange one – any resemblance to Old Tom appears to be purely coincidental.

Bottle. Clear dark brown/ruby with a small beige head. Aroma of ginger, cola, some malts and caramel. Taste is ginger, ginger, ginger and a bit of cola, root beer, caramel and hops later on. Herbal and spicy. Moderate bitterness. Medium to strong carbonation Not balanced but really nice if you want to get buzzed drinking ginger ale.

Glas gekocht in Luxemburg stad. Het is een helder donkerbruin bier met een rode gloed. Het heeft een medium schuimkraag. De geur is gemberachtig. De smaak is zoet, caramel achtig, kruidig en gemberachtig.
