Imperial Peanut Butter Stout. Don’t let it fool you. This is an imperial stout first and foremost. Deep dark malts lend espresso notes and British crystal malts contribute the perfect toffee and caramel flavor. Despite the dry finish there is a wonderful molasses character compliments of brown cane sugar, and just enough residual sugar to finish full-bodied but never cloying. The peanut butter is simply featured to augment what is already there…a fantastic example of a legendary beer style.

blik met rood label, schenkt zwart met kaki kraag. aroma van chocolade, cacao en pindakaas, smaken zijn zacht, matig tot redelijk bitter, romig, alcohol, pindakaas is een beetje mwah. --- Beer merged from original tick of Sin-Tax Imperial Peanut Butter Stout on 04 Oct 2018 at 20:01 - Score: 7. Tap at the Beervana Carnival, 2018, Bangkok. Poured a clear dark brown, almost black colour with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is big roasty malt, light caramel, light salty peanut butter. The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter with a big roasty, liqouirce, charcoal, vanilla palate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

16 oz. draft at The Cask Republic. New Haven, CT. Aroma shows chocolate cookie, mild yeast. Flavor is mild chalky nuts. Weaker malt backbone. Even on Nitro it seems a bit thin. Really lean body and texture. Bery average.

Aromaz are not bad peanut butter and roast a bit of cocoa. Flavors are not so good the bitterness totally clashes with the peanut butter.

Can from Colonial Spirits Rich black color with a thin off white head that dissipates quickly. Chocolate and nut on the nose with bits of brown sugary maltiness. More fruit and nut than chocolate in the flavor with a heavy malty sweetness. Pretty tasty beer.

12 ounce can. Translucent cola brown color. Small creamy tan head. Roasted malt nose with notes of peanuts and burnt sugar. Flavor has notes of dark malt, peanuts, coconut and brown sugar. Rich and complex with warming notes of alcohol in finish.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from Andover Liquors. Appearance is dark brown-ruby red (with light source directly behind)--almost black--with trace sparkle at the edge of the glass, finger-width beige head with fair retention and no lacing. Aroma is vanilla, cocoa, peanut butter, cherry. Taste is initial vanilla and peanut butter, then dominated by a sweet cherry element and finally lightly bitter roast. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with smooth texture, lively carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, the cherry sweetness is a little much--like an alcoholic Dr. Pepper--but there are interesting, diverse elements and it works OK with the peanut butter and a little overcarbonated for the first few sips.
