This is an easy drinking blonde ale. Dry and aromatic yet uncomplicated. Soft bitterness and light citrus notes from a combination of English Progress and American Cascade hops. Its popularity is born out by its permanent status in many hostelries.

(Cask, gravity, at Black Door, 20160701) The beer poured deep golden and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had earth, toffee and malts. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, toffee, earth, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A good hoppy English ale.

Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Hazy deep golden. Fruity nose with some spicy hay. Mid sweet with light-medium body and well rounded mouthfeel. Ripe fruit, hay and vanilla, notes of butter. Mid bitter finish.

Pump clip said Elland Blonde in The Station, Oakengates Shropshire on 2nd Jan 2016, so I had a half for the tick: this was the third and final citrus flavoured golden brew I had in this pub on this occasion. The lemon aroma and taste were subdued or subtle depending on your stance, the malts trying to overpower the citrus hop base nose and flavour. The best of the three I had.

Pale yellow with a small head. It’s pretty much what it says on the pump clip, it’s a fine bitter with a high bitterness and lots of malty-hop character.

Cask gravity at K&ES Railway BF 2011. Pale clear gold thin white head. Cracking condition bit of hard candy but extremely pleasant. Easy drinking but not a best bitter.

Cask conditioned at The Castle, Furnival St., London
Hazy blond color. Nice fudge/toffee aroma. Some malt flavor, with residual sweetness, low bitterness, less interesting than the aroma.

Half pint, hand pulled cask at The Dagda Bar in Edinburgh. Golden body, slightly hazy. Missing head, fragile lacing. Floral hoppy aroma. Taste of fruity hops and honey sweetness, with a decent bitterness lingering on the swallow [26.10.2008].

Cask at Volunteers Arms, GBBF 2007. A golden beer with a huge cream colored head. The aroma is sweet mlaty with light notes of citrus. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of citrusy hops and straw, leding to a good bitter finish.
