5th Anniversary Beer.

In the 1970s, in our village, Maneciu-Ungureni, Henri Coanda (the inventor of the jet engine) built and tested a suspended high-speed train that ran 500 km/h and was designed to travel the distance from Ploiesti to Bucharest (60km) in 8 minutes. His visionary experiment was a success, but it was cancelled by the authorities for lack of funds at the time. Today however, Coanda’s technology is being tested again and will be soon used. For Zaganu's 5th anniversary, we created a beer in his honor: an Imperial IPA called 500. A beer with 10% alcohol, with a strong malt back-bone, very hoppy and aromatic.

Bottle @ Højbjerg tasting. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are rich malt, hops, fruits, flowers, caramel and has a nice bitter finish.

Tasting glass (2,05€) @ Fabrica De Bere Bună / Zăganu Bar (visited 15.4.) in Bucharest in Romania. F: big, tan, good retention. C: amber, hazy. A: mellow tropical fruits, orange, pine resin, bit vinous and unfortunately diacetyl touch. T: medium malty base, caramel, orange, mellow tropical fruits, bit vinous, too boozy and with diacetyl touch, full body and medium carbonation, beside some flaws not bad still enjoyable.

NOV-2018. BOTTLE. Clear deep amber, creamy beige head. Big caramel malts, fresh cereals and some dms-y malts, a hint of alcohol sharpness - certainly does not smell like an IPA, but un in a bad way. Same with the taste - big malty sweetness, with a good kick of warming alcohol, moderate bitterness but little actual hop flavor. Not a bad, if you expect a hard, barley wine-esque string IPA. 7-4-7-4-15=3,7.

SEP-2018. DRAFT at BCBF 2018. Cloudy amber, creamy ivory head. Smells like fresh malts, some green grass. The taste is big, malty, chewy, good hoppy and boozy spice. Not your regular ultra hoppy double (triple?) IPA, but a nice fresh strong pale ale. 6-4-7-4-14=3,5.
