Delicate and devilishly drinkable, this quintessentially Kentish ale lays the county's hallowed, herbaceous hops on a firm, biscuity bed of pale and crystal malt. Endowed with an inviting auburn-amber hue and a tantalising toffee-ish aroma, it's an enlivening English ale that, given its unassuming ABV, pleasures the palate with a remarkable fullness of flavour.

From cask at Charlies. Pours golden orange with a lacing yellowish head. Light fruity hoppy to grainy aroma. Flavour is very dry hoppy. Pilsner like hops and bitterness. Dry grainy finish with a persisting hoppy flavour. Goes more fruity towards the finish. Somewhat too dry for my liking.

(Cask at Mabel’s Tavern, St Pancras, London, 5 Aug 2007) Copper colour with off-white head. Fruity nose with orange, apricots and stifled notes of earthy hops. Fruity taste with dark fruit, oranges and earthy hops in a fairly long, bitter finish. Some malt sweetness throughout. Decent, well balanced standard bitter.

Nice hazy amber color. Fresh and easily drinkable, but light and quite simple, dry with some caramel flavor; respectable bitterness.

Cask at the Kings Head, Hythe, Kent. Reddish brown body with a thin creamy off-white head; aroma is malty and slightly sour. A straightforward bitter with sweet malt and dry hop flavours, pretty well balanced. A gentle bitter, long lasting, finish.
