Bottle at home. Almost clear yellow color med sized white head. Aroma and flavor are sourish a bit, unpleasant citrus. Weird. Don't like it. Drainpour for me. 5-3-2-3-5.

The blonde one in this newish brand, named after a fictitious character in a popular Flemish soap series. Bottle from Lokerse Drankencentrale. Mousy, medium thick, regular, snow white, very slowly opening but otherwise stable head; initially cristal clear warm 'old gold' robe with metallic-brass tinge and lively, visible sparkling in the middle, showing a 'mist' of yeast dots with the sediment added. Sweet but admittedly somewhat unusual aroma of candyfloss, sugared apple juice, banana-flavoured chewing gum, plum brandy without the alcohol, sweetbread, pear-syrup candy, scones, iron, Poire William (as in: noticeable 'white' alcohol which should not be apparent at all at this strength), rainwater, sweat, vague touch of dried peppermint leaves, damp straw and something vaguely and weirdly chemical or rubber-like underneath. Sweet onset, strong bubblegum effect and strong banana-ester flavour, notes of pear and green apple, softish carb, some light mineral effects, sourish undertone; outspoken white candy syrup sugariness lingers over a cereally, slick, rather thin maltiness with metallic edges, feeling a tad watery even due to the - for this style - low carbonation. Unpleasantly rubbery effect in the finish with lingering isoamylacetate bubblegum, a soapy coriander touch without much of its spiciness and - very weirdly at only 6.5% ABV - noticeable, almost slightly astringent and 'jenever'-like alcohol, which clearly is extremely badly hidden. Hops are limited to a mild grassy and floral bitterness in the very end - probably explaining why the finish feels a bit thin, and the alcohol heat is way too obvious. This last point is to be considered a serious technical flaw and so is the light metallic effect and even a certain degree of undercarbonation; otherwise, just like its brown counterpart, a bit weird for a 'standard' Belgian blonde. The isoamylacetate (banana ester) is extremely strong in this one, there is too much residual sweetness and not enough hop bitterness - clearly the aim was to keep it as accessible (and sweet) as possible. It saddens me that after all this global activity in the realm of artisanal brewing, half-hearted clichés like this are still thrown onto the Belgian market, flimsy beers like this cannot be good for the general status of Belgian beer.
