SLOTH Belgian-style Imperial Stout is deliberately dark as hell. The pour is slow and sluggish. Its head is menacing, becoming torn and tattered Belgian lace on the sides of the glass as you cautiously consume this brew—sip by insidious sip.
The aroma is sweet from heavy malt and big alcohol with notes of vanilla, coconut and whiskey from the oak. The depth & breadth of roasted malt flavors loiters on the palate while the robust finish lingers, well, forever.

Bottle, 22oz, shared by bergstaden. A black beer topped by a dense, finger-thick tan head. Some lacing. The aroma has a good dash of both alcohol and booze, but it's mostly on the malty side. Roasted, lightly burnt malts, licorice, some prunes, a touch of dark roast coffee and some dark chocolate too. It's full-bodied and warming, softly carbonated and quite dry for an Imperial Stout. Roasted malts, burnt notes, both from the malts and the oak, prunes, coconut and vanilla hints, some oak and tannin hints, and a good dash of licorice in the back. Lasting, delicious finish. A really pleasant one, not too sweet, and quite easy drinkable. 190929

Bottled 11-30-17. Aroma of molasses, yeast, oak. Slight bourbon. Raisins, chocolate, and lots of oak. Bourbon flavor is low with a lot of booze. Forward in booze and nearly burn after the sip. It is almost all barrel. Love this brewery but this was a disappointment.

Tasting at Matt's
Black colour. Nose of roasted malts, rubber, light phenol. Good body structure; dark malt flavour, touch of chocolate, a bit earthy, boozy bourbon; the Belgian yeast adds a character that doesn't fit.
Solid, rather chaotic.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is loaded with whiskey barrels upfront, with medium roasted malt, and a touch of Belgian yeast. Flavour brings out a nice marriage of whiskey barrels and lightly sweet Belgian yeast, with moderate roast. Heavy on the whiskey on the finish. Not particularly complex and doesn't live up the hype, but it's certainly a well-brewed BA impie.

Battle. Pours inky black with a small dark Brown head that dissipate slowly leaving nice lacing. Aroma is full of molasses notes of Anise hints of bourbon but not strong Cocoa chocolate dark roasted malt. Flavor is light sweet medium bitter again very restrained bourbon almost to restring for a be a stout. For body creamy mouthfeel.
