Notes from April 2011 I think I had this once before during their side project series. BB date of February/Week 4. This bottle is from 2010 I believe. This 12oz bottle sent up by Dustin, was conveniently hoarded away by my BA neighbor till I brought it up in conversation. :P Sam Adams PP glass. Cloudy orange/honey pour. Minimal ring of off white head. Smells like a seriously juicy hef straight off the bat. Getting some soothing orange Creamsicle notes. Deeper in I get all that macerated wheat, as well as some pineapple. Chalky yeast, but that juicy aspect doesn't disappear. Taste is pushy with the banana esters. Spicy anise liquor. Sharp acidity upfront. A bit toasty. Still somewhat juicy. Boozier then expected. Grassy, slightly bitter yeast finish. Feel is thick like a proper wheat beer, but more gelatinous(bad choice of words). Carbonation is strong thankfully. Alcohol hits pretty hard for only 10.8%. I'm not big on the style, but this one was a good nightcap. :)

Vintage 2008 22oz bottle thanks to toby pours out copper topped with a sand head. Nose is old wet cardboard caramel toffee honey boiled vegetables. Taste is more of the nice sweet honey caramel toffee not bad has held up pretty well.

Burnt sienna (orangy brown) pour. Even thin lace around rim. Smell of banana and wheat. Predominant taste of banana and a lasting banana flavor on palate

16 ounce can into snifter, 2018 vintage. Pours slightly hazy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big golden raisin, peach, plum, pear, apricot, red apple, white grape, ripe banana, honey, wheat, and biscuit dough; with lighter notes of caramel, peppercorn, bubblegum, clove, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, honey, bready malts, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big golden raisin, peach, plum, pear, apricot, red apple, white grape, ripe banana, honey, wheat, and biscuit dough; with lighter notes of caramel, peppercorn, bubblegum, clove, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal, floral, grassy bitterness; clove/peppery yeast spiciness; and slight wheat tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of golden raisin, peach, plum, pear, apricot, red apple, white grape, ripe banana, honey, wheat, biscuit dough, caramel, peppercorn, bubblegum, clove, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, honey, bready malts, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with an awesome malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and no cloying flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and yeast spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 10.8%. Overall this is an awesome wheatwine! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, honey, bready malts, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on with the mellowly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Perfectly balanced fruity/spicy yeast, rich honey, and pale/wheat malts; with solid earthy hops against sweetness. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. Have not had too many with actual weizen yeast, but this definitely has it. Big on banana.

From a 16 oz. can. Pours a clear orange gold with an off white head. Aromas of honey and spice. Flavors are sweet honey with an alcohol kick.

16 ounce can. Amber orange pour. Large frothy beige head. Great clinging lace. Big boozy, fruity nose. Definitely detect sweet banana. Flavor is peculiar. Notes of banana, sweet liqueur and plasticine. Big boozy notes dominate. Cloyingly sweet finish.

Bottle @ home thanks to Homer321 for sending. Pours a dark maroon orange appearance with a thin brown head. Caramel, honey, orange blossom, citrus, cardboard aroma. Dull carbonation. Moderately high sweetness. Some oxidation. Earth, orange citrus. High boost. Ok.

This is not a wheat ale, it is a wheat wine, think rude nasty american wannah bee barley wine, wew. Too much fer this old fart, quite uncivilized. This looks like a newer bottle to even tho it says retaired. Some of the rudest most boozy beer I’ve had since those couple of merry monk’s I’ve. Me not like the american barley wine style.

Hazy amber beer. Honey on the nose. Light semi dry palate. Light floral honey with a little pepper underneath. In the middle of all this is some subtle orange. Finishes soft and dry with more aromatic honey. The honey is very nicely judged throughout. A little light aniseed alcohol coming through in the finish, but it blends in well.
