Our imperial, Baltic-style porter is inspired by the strong, dark brews exported from Great Britain to Eastern Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries. Rich and flavorful with upfront notes of chocolate, caramel and toffee.

Aroma is very smokey, it dominated the aroma. There are some subtle notes of chocolate, and toffee, and a touch of coffee. Flavour is very nice, robust dark fruit notes mixed in with bitter chocolate, and smoke, lots and lots of smoke. There is some nice bready, biscuity malt in the finnish, with a googd amount of bitterness with a touch of alcohol. VERY NICE!

Black pour with brown around the edges and a medium tan head that diminishes steadily to a film. Sparse patches of lace. Aroma of malt, chocolate and coffee. Medium body with flavors of charred malt, chocolate and coffee. The finish is roasty with a coffee and malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle. It pours brown with a small khaki head. The aroma has sweet cola, light root beer and nuts. Sweet on the nose. The flavor has more sweet cola with a strong earthy finish. Weak body. This bottle seems off. It starts off very sweet up front and then finishes overly earthy and bitter. Pass.

12 ounce bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but was released recently. Pours nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, molasses, caramel, toast, toffee, raisin, plum, dark bread, light coffee, light licorice, herbal, and roast/toasty earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity of dark/roasted malt and fruity yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of big chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, caramel, molasses, toast, toffee, dark bread, raisin, plum, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Good amount of earthy roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roast, molasses, toast, dark bread, raisin, plum, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of dark/roasted malt and moderate yeast ester flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy, smooth, and fairly chalky/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Baltic porter. All around good balance, robustness, and complexity of dark/roasted malt and moderate yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours near black with a creamy brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has notes of musty dark grains with light chocolate, roasted malts and a bit of toffee. Flavor starts with dark grains and roasted malts with a bit of chocolate coming out in the finish.

Old school English-style porter. Pours black with good mocha head and lacing. Dark chocolate with nut, some coffee, some booze and caramelized malt. Finishes sour after a moment. Bottle.

19.05.2013, 0,35l bottle @ home:
Big creamy longlasting head. Aroma is smooth, licorice, dark roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, toffee, nuts, salty caramel, some hops. Taste is is roasted sour-ish coffee and dark malts, alcohol, grass, burnt caramel, licorice, bitter dark chocolate, nuts. Longlasting bitterness. Some years of aging would probably be a good thing for this one.

12 ounce bottle. Translucent dark brown color. Small tan head dissipates quickly. Faint roasted malt nose. Sweet roasted malt flavor is redolent of cocoa and coffee with licorice undertones. Nicely complex and flavorful. Cloying, earthy, full bodied and delicious.

12 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a medium beige head. Aroma of candied sugar, chocolate, cocoa powder and some lager yeast. Flavour brings out sweetened cocoa powder, lager yeast, and a little candied sugar. Well-balanced, quite light-bodied and easily drinkable. Quite a well-made Baltic porter. Good stuff.
