Dark brown colour. Mild fudgey aroma with slight roast. Medium body, a fair bit of sweetness, with some soy sauce character.

Bottle from Corti Bros. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Sort of a dark treacle aroma. Chocolate hint. Med body almost. Flavor is dark burnt malt suggestive of that really old Guinness stout, with a transient sugary treacle suggestive of that McEwan’s Scotch Ale. Really an interesting and fairly tasty ale, tho it doesn’t seem "normal" for stout.

Kujukuri Ocean Stout, 7% served in a snifter. It pours a reddish brown that is inky black with ruby highlights & a tan head in the glass. Creamy chocolate aroma with light roasted notes. Fairly full bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. The taste is sweet milk chocolate, roasty notes that nod towards coffee beans & perhaps a hint of a lactic acidity. I’d say this is a milk or cream stout & a pretty good one - much better than that weizen. Interestingly, paired with chocolate I got big cherry notes.

Bottle. Pitch black, tall, frothy tan head. Aroma is fruity, sweet, milky. Un-stoutlike. Could be wheat or Belgian yeast in there. Sweet and fruity flavor as well, dark fruits, caramel, chocolate and cream. Interesting and original, for sure, but not right. Slight sour taste as well (old?—I don’t think so, made June 6, drank July 29). Dry, stoutlike burnt finish. Too watery, too sour, a strange bird. Drinkable but not very nice.
