Avenyn Ale presents a fresh citrusy aroma that is rounded off by a pleasant bitterness. This very first Dugges beer combines Cascade, Chinook, Centennial, Citra and Simcoe hops for a tropical feel.
This is one of the first beers we ever brewed. Less than one month after Dugges Bryggeri started in 2005, the first batch of Avenyn Ale was bottled. Ever since Brew Master Mikael started thinking about starting a brewery an American Pale Ale was on his mind. A hop forward ale that, at the time, really challenged your average Swedish beer drinker. This is our always and forever beer, for as long as we can remember.

Bottle at VilleValla Pub. Pours medium sized, white head. Amber colour and somewhat hazy appearance. Nice looking beer. Aroma is fruity hops and some malts. Taste is well balanced with some bitterness and some sweetness. Nothing extreme, but very drinkable. Medium bodied, though a bit watery.

Draught at the new Bishops Arms in Malmö. Poured a hazy orange-amber body (nice!) with a big, persistant thick white head. Lovely fresh aroma hop nose, orange? Sweetish. The same hopiness persists in the taste too but it’s ruined there by some unexpected acidity and notes of carrot. Not much bitterness in the end. Acidic-bitter aftertaste. Expected more.

An old rating I found in a notebook, on tap at the Warehouse. Pours amber with an orange hue and a off-white head that laces a bit. Aroma is full of citric hops and a bit of a sweet note perhaps from the malts. Flavor had a bit more malty sweetness and the citric hops are still present.

bottle at Gotherborg beerfest pours golden/orange with off white head. aroma and taste, very floral hops up front remaining well balanced, malty with a light bittersweet finish. This is my 3rd beer by this brewery and I am starting to notice the signature yeast strain and their American style approach.
