This was poured into a chalice.
The appearance was a delicate hazy amber color with a decent white foamy head that fizzled into the body in about less than thirty seconds. There was some light lacing but for the most part it left some to be desired.
The smell had a weird combination of toffee and caramel malts overpowering any degree of Belgian spices.
The taste was overly sweet and really do the beer any favors of letting any aspect of true Belgian-ness to come out.
On the palate, it wanted to show a medium sort of body but came across pretty light to show a fairly sessionable aspect to it. The carbonation was pretty sharp.
Overall, I wasn’t exactly a fan of this one. Too bad I live too far away from this company to ask for a new one to see if it was a bad three bottles that I had when I first had this.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a trappist glass. Pours transparent amber with finger off-white head that lingers. Good lacing, medium body, well carbonated, and caramel malt aroma. Taste is caramel malt, spicy yeast, some bread, and hint of candy sugar. Just get a Leffe Blonde.

Bottle. Weak caramelly aroma, some unrefined sugar. Seemingly clear dark amber colour. Very small white head. The flavour is yeasty, slightly Belgian, spicy. The malt base tastes more like lager, perhaps a bit fruity, but much cleaner than a real Belgian.

Bottle. Pours an opaque, golden-brown with a vivacious, pillowy off-white head. Decent aroma, some Belgian notes, some citrus, lemon, and hints of caramel. Flavor starts with some fruitiness and caramel sweetness, then some Belgian character, finishing with some maltiness. Overall flavor seems a little shallow. Medium in body with lively carbonation. Pretty refreshing. Might be a little light, what with the 5.9% ABV and easygoing flavor, but it’s certainly drinkable.

Pours cloudy dark orange color with off white head. Fruity aroma with lemon and corriander. Similar flavors with a strange aftertaste. Medium body with average carbonation.

Bottle. Amber color, decent head. Very nice aroma, quite like a typical Belgian ale, of malt and yeast. Flavor is decent, but far too thin and weak. Strongly hopped, which was good, but not enough malt and not enough alcohol to pull it through. A decent starter, but only about 1/2 the way there. Hop finish was good, but really almost of out of place.

Pours copper with gold edges and weak white head. The aroma has notes of raisins, dried cranberries, sugary malts and a yeasty spice sensation. The taste feels watery and begins with sugar sweet malts to go along with raisins, prunes and dates. It moves forward toward being peppery midway but the flavor smooths out before that happens. It ends with estery notes like prunes, dried cranberries and a hint of peppery spice.

Bottle. Pours an amber with little head. Aromas are weak... maybe a little spice, but I’m having a hard time picking up much more. Flavor is kind of an effervescent bit of cloves with little other complexity apart from the astringent alcohol.

12 ounce bottle from a sampler. Pours a clear bronze color with a medium head. Clove, bubblegum and candi sugar in the aroma. Strong yeast in the aroma with some spicy notes. Medium bodied. I don’t get the trappist style part, but still fairly pleasant.

A golden ale with a thin frothy white head. In aroma, a rather chemical orange aroma, a bit of bubblegum, sweet, not bad. In mouth, a malt with lots of curacaoa added, pleasant veering on blanche territory. Very nice. Tasted in late nov. 2006.
