Light lager and the purest expression of malt. Known to Bavarians simply as "lager bier" it is meant to toe the line between bland and sublime.

Mug at the brewery - can't believe I've not yet rated this - this one's a little more subtle than some other examples of the style, but still quite flavorful - clean but rich malt character, grassy and herbal hops - solid lager.

On tap at the Lagerhaus. Thanks, Aaron and Leighton! Pours a slightly hazy, yellow color, with a big, fluffy, white head. The aroma is butterscotch, pine, cream, and saaz hops. Sweet and a little bit of esters, with a smooth, hoppy, bitter finish. Light body, with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. This is a solid, refreshing, and mild helles.

Keg at the brewery. Pours clear yellow with a small, creamy white head. Lovely biscuity aroma, faint grass, white bread, straw. Light-medium sweet flavour with low bitterness, hay, a little grass. Light bodied with average carbonation. Clean finish, more biscuits, straw, pale cereal. Super smooth and really drinkable.

Tap at brewery. Clear yellow appearance with a white head. The aroma is clean as hell. Soft grains, light herbs and grass in the nose. Off dry. Mild bitterness. Light and quaffable. Not super flavorful but it's easy to drink.

Draft. Clear golden body with a frothy white head. Aroma of toasted grain, floral hops, light raw grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Sweet and malty as it should be. A bit raw grain and a bit of vegetable in the finish, but otherwise fairly clean and quaffable.
