An ale brewed with a ridiculous amount of raspberry juice. Fort has a Belgian-style base, then we follow a similar fermentation process to the one we use on beers like 120 Minute IPA and World Wide Stout.

Fort is an excellent candidate for cellaring. Grab a few bottles, enjoy one now and lay the others down for a few years. Want to know when the Fort you find was bottled? Check the 'Bottled On' date on the neck of each bottle.

Fort is also an excellent food beer. Our favorite pairings include anything chocolate or a nice piece of duck.

The Fort label art was designed by our rock-and-roll friend Tara McPherson. Tara also did the label art for our Chateau Jiahu and our 2012 Seasonal Prints and Uber-Tap Handle. Can you tell we kinda love her work?!

Admin Note: Alcohol fluctuates on this one (16% - 17% ABV)

bottle from the cheese man! thanks!
bottle from 2005
aroma is very sweet, and big on raspberries. I was expecting an alcohol bomb, but i guess being bottledin 2005 really allowed this to mellow. Flavour is loaded with raspberries, and it quite sweet. Small notes of caramel, and malt. The alcohol is really quite well hidden, its there, but not even close to as strong as you would expect an 18.5% beer. very good, i really enjoyed this!

Rated March 2006. 750mL bottle pours slightly hazy orange color with a vanishing head. Aroma is mostly the raspberry fruit with a hint of malts I think and a bit of alcohol. Taste is crisp raspberry fruit punctuated by the above average carbonation. Has an almost campaign feel to it. I really don’t taste any malt that seemed to be apparent in the aroma. The finish is both dry and sour. The sour seems to come from the raspberries. For me it could use some malt for balance and even a hint of hops might be helpful. But that’s just me.

Found a 12 oz bottle at Fort Point Market in Boston a few weeks ago, thought I had rated Fort earlier. Apparently not the situation. I have a snifter from a Houston brewery no longer operating, unfortunate, that is receiving the pour. The liquid arrives a caramel-amber in color with very little head, but I do see a steady carbonation. I smell red fruit, a slightly sourish presence and grain, okay enough. I lift the glass and and take a good drink. Assuredly an improvement over the scent, I get raspberries in abundance, chocolate, baked bread, malt and alcohol. I find it a bit annoying when the brewery does not put the ABV on the label, in this case I believe it is 18% or thereabouts. Stiff. I’ve had similar beers and I liked them as I like this one. A different type of beer but I can appreciate.

Bottle from Zhenya: pours murky and sediment filled brown. No real head. Aroma is raspberry, earthiness, booze. Not super hard to drink given the boost. Some fire. Nice fruit. Not as complex as I would have thought. Still good.

750ml dusty bottle thanks to Billy. I would assume something like 2014 - 15 birth year? It pours clear red - purple with a decent frothy white head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, sappy, resinous, boozy, earthly, jammy berry and dirty vibes. The taste is initially dry, with bitter - sweet character, sappy, oily, boozy, punchy, dirty, jammy berry, candy, tangy fruits, cola cubes, tangy, juicy, bread and boozey warmth through the finish. Medium+ body carbonation. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Easy going than you might expect. This a big beer, but also rather fun.

12 ounce bottle from Clinton Wine and Spirits in Clinton, NJ. Have been sitting on this one for a few years, but can't say what year vintage this is from. Hazy brown pour. No head. Earthy raspberry nose hints at fruit vinegar. Intense raspberry flavor. Tart and malty with vinous notes. Sweet and sour with a big warming alcohol prescence. Quite unique, as one would expect from Dogfish Head.

LCRBM2: Light red berries aroma, or was it really raspberry, as the label promised. Strong raspberry flavor. Sweet and sticky, bubble gum. Disappointing. 6 3 7 4 14 = 2.8 Re-rate @ EBF 2008. Rapsberry aroma, woody and liquor-like. Very sweet oaky flavor, malt with a hint of raspberry. Just a tolarable alcohol level. Oak in the finish.
