Heavy Handed IPA is brewed to celebrate the harvesting of the hops every year. Within moments of harvest we add freshly picked "Wet Hops" to this IPA. Since the hops have not been dried before use, they add a wonderful character found in no other beer. A hop lovers dream.

Lot #2612 (Cluster - Field #1): Slightly hazy copper coloured body with an amber glow and a light ruby shine and a centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of pine, resin and a bit of pineapple with some good malt note and a hint of nuts. Medium-bodied; Assertive resinous and syrupy feel with a lot of pine, pineapple, honey and a bit of earthy flavours. Aftertaste shows some nice hoppy flavours with a bit of syrup and honey, a little earth and a good balance of hops and malt - more like a traditional IPA and not like a West Coast IPA at all. Overall, a nice beer and definitely worth trying if you can find it - not overloaded with hops, but a good balance for sure and nice to sample. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Half Time in Poughkeepsie, New York on 26-December-2012 for US$2.79 sampled at home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 19-January-2013.

Tap at Kasey’s Tavern, Chicago - 03/11/12. No info on the vintage/variety. Clear golden/amber with a thin off white head. Good lacing develops. Hops and pines shoot straight up your hooter with tropical fruit tones as back up. Tastes of bitter grapefruit, mango, hops, pine. Medium bodied with fine carbonation leading to a bitter finish. Absoulte belter of an IPA!

Draft at Olympic. Pretty decent IPA. Good bits of citrus and pine dancing on my tongue. Would like to try it out of a bottle, at home, where I can give a better rating.

Bottle shared by Kabutomushi. Deep copper, slightly cloudy, with thick lace. Restrained nose, caramel, citrus, classic style IPA aroma. Malty, with some alcohol. Flavor of vanilla ice cream, maybe creamcicle. Caramel and toffee malts, minerals, some pineapple, nice bitterness. Full and smooth body, slightly buttery. Old school.

Bottle. Deep amber body. Frothy, off-white head. Light aroma of bready malts, leafy hops, caramel, toasted grain. Hint of floral hops. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Certainly can taste the wet hops, but the malt is more forward. Raw grain and caramel on top of the taste with some hop flavors below. Just OK.

Purchased at Armanetti’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on a Friday after work prior to going to the restaurant Browntrout. Appearance a nice cloudy amber/orange with an off white, frothy head that sticks to the glass. Aroma of spices, hops, somewhat floral, a bit unique and nice. Taste is really nice and smooth, goes down more citrus than it was in the nose, has a nice bitterness in the back end. Medium body, above average carbonation, this is pretty good stuff.
