Oak barrel-aged sour blonde ale

Our take on the traditional Belgian-style blend of aged lambics, Rueuze, is becoming something of a tradition around here. Our Bruers tasted and hand-selected only the best barrels for this release, which they then blended to taste. Wild notes of hay, barnyard funk, and olive round out a well-balanced acidity.

Admin Note: Starting in 2015 Rueuze has been released under The Bruery Terreux label. If you had an older vintage look under The Bruery.

Pours unclear blonde. Small to medium, stable white head. Scent is mild, lactic acid, light woodyness. Taste is tart, lactic acid. Very mild in aroma, also not particularly intense in acidity. Fairly simple. Mild wood . Med carbo, bit astrigent.

Bottle shared at Benny’s place, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy golden orange colour with a thin broken white head. The flavour is strong sour, with a super dry, crisp, tart apricot, tangerine, yeasty acidic palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Takes the lining off the back of your throat, but no complaints.

750ml bottle. Poured a cloudy golden color, with a very light off-white head. Aroma was light tart notes. Sour character, grapes. Light citrus. Fizzy character. Holds up relatively well! May actually be better than when it was fresh. At a DCBeer share.

Bottle @ work. Unclar golden body under a small white head. Funky aroma with malt, peaches, acidic red berries, wood and a little hint of acetone. Taste is light and refreshing with peaches, lemon, wood and wild funk. Relatively balanced, fresh, acidic and tart.
