Rolling Thunder Imperial Stout is aged for 9 months in handmade Rolling Thunder Barrel Works barrels previously used to age our Dead Guy Whiskey. This one-of-a-kind imperial stout can be enjoyed right away or cellared for years. Either way it’s best shared among friends.

Dark with a creamy head, this imperial stout features rich notes of coffee and chocolate, combined with the vanilla and smokey wood flavors of whiskey-soaked Oregon oak.

1L bottle shared at Imazato. A fairly standard BA beer, black with a beige head and an oaky cacao Porter like aroma. Med-full bodied with lots of oaky whiskey notes, treacle chocolate and a sharp finish. Good but on the simple side, it hides the alcohol well as I had no idea it was 11%+.

Big old bottle shared with the boys at Mongers. Flip top. Is this only in massive and costly bottles? Rogue just can’t get away from being tricky which is a shame because this is a good beer. In my situation it was fine, but if you want people to try your product you have to make it approachable- few people will want a liter or to spend over 20$ for this. Pours a pitch black color with a small beige head. A nice big barrel in the nose, vanilla, roast. The brew isn’t overly sweet or under attenuated, roast, chocolate, vanilla and hot bourbon, ashy woody mostly. Quite good.
