Bottle. Had three times now, but somehow seem to have very few notes still. Aroma is big bourbon, taste is great, chocolate, caramel, some milkiness. Good stuff.

Bottle, 355 ml trade with TimE (thanks for this one!), shared with Max and JFK10000. Pours brown, no head. Chocolate, some bourbon, bit of fruit, sweet. Warming, soft carbonation, oily. Medium bodied.

Bottle. Nose of soy sauce, cocoa/chocolate, coffee, some alcohol burn, with some berries, pear. A bit boozy, sweet, cola, chocolate, apple-pear, soy flavors. Rather complex and quite nice.

12 ounce bottle thanks to ferris. Pours a clear black color with a small white head. A big sweet cocoa bourbon nose. The flavor is sweet chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, a thin palate. Very smooth. Solid. Quite sweet.

Pours dark brown, not crazy carbonation. Aroma sort of boozy. Strong leathery, liquorice and sweet. Taste has a light laconic thing going on maybe not intended but works well. Chocolate also there. Well crafted nice imperial stout with its own character.

Bottle from the brewery. Pours an oily, inky black with no head. Big bourbon nose with some oak notes. Lots of vanilla, dark chocolate and some light coffee hints. Almost no carbonation with notes of warming alcohol. Body is light and the ABV is superbly hidden. The big and bold flavors from the nose explode on the palate and play off of each other really well. Finish is warming and lingers for a long time on the palate. --- Beer merged from original tick of Imperiality Bourbon Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout on 13 Nov 2015 at 23:02 - Score: 8

Thanks to TimE for the sharing the bottle! Poured tulip taster showing coffee brown center and translucent coffee rims. The nose shows a mix of vanilla, whisky, dark chocolate, and a background or roast malts. The palate is full bodied and barely any carbonation. Flavors of light milk changing to a mid palate of whisky and a light whisky finish. A slight coffee like tartness here and there. A slight heat from the alcohol.

Pitch black color with virtually no head. The nose is nothing short of liquid heaven. Tons of bourbon laying over dark chocolate and roasted malts. Everything is very well integrated in the nose. The mouth continues this flawless integration between bourbon and the underlying imperial stout. Reminded me of Magic Rocks BA Bearded Lady. Low carbonation, alcohol very well hidden. Velvety smooth on the mouth cherries and dark chocolate jump out at the finish. A work of art. We had against old viscousity, amongst other BA beers and this was hands down the best. Really one of the best beers ever made in Japan.
