Single bottle from Trader Joe's, Chesterfield, MO. Nice grab of pine and resin hop under the cap. Slightly hazy orange body under a sudsy but thick head. Nice sharp hop taste, which is only then backed up by some toasty, slightly caramel malt. Just a little sticky on the lips, but very easy drinking. And just like that, it's finished.

Bottle in MV. Pours unclear burnished orange with a frothy, off-white head. The aroma holds ripened citrus fruits, lightly toasted crackers, some toffee. Medium sweet flavour with lots of jammy citrus, some marmalade, rich bready malts, more toffee, some brown sugar, mild bitter and oily pine. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with light resinous pine, a little boozy warmth, toasted crackers. Perhaps a little aged? This one, as it is, leans towards barley wine territory. But it drinks pretty good.

Bottle pour into shaker pint glass. Appearance was hazy with fine particulates, golden-orange color, mild sparkle, good white head, no lacing. Aroma was resinous, grapefruit, citrus. Taste as aroma. Palate was light-to-medium bodied with thick, creamy texture, soft-to-average carbonation and mostly bitter finish. Overall, toward the bitter side but not unpleasantly so. If a midwest IPA is supposed to be half-way between a bitter West Coast IPA and a fruity, flavorful East Coast IPA, then it hits the mark.

Pine and lots of orange zest. Orange pour with good head and carpet lacing. Bitter finish with a hint of tang. Lots of citrus in finish. Tap at Springfield airport.

Bottle from Bigtreebrewing. Hazy deep golden color with a smallish bone white head. Toffee, earthy , mineral and a hint metallic on the nose. Bitter butterscotch and earthy hop flavor. Medium body moderate to high carbonation. Decent enough IPA but not horribly exciting.

Less of an IPA than an APA. More malt flavor and grassiness than I usually want from an IPA. Not much in the way of hop bite or citrus flavor. But if this was listed as an APA, it would be pretty outstanding.

Grapefruit pronounced throughout. Amber-gold with full white head. Overt grapefruit and cracker backing. Moderate high bitterness.
