“This is a beer that has lost its way, like a young skull with no real identity. An innocent pale beer that wanted more. A strong hoppy IPA that fell in with the wrong crowd, tempted in by the darkness, by the decadence of the imperial stouts. Sweet, thick and roasty, yet high on hop aroma and flavour. This is something you have never tried before, and possibly should never try. But you will, you will give in to temptation, and you will succumb to its influences, come to the dark side.

Drink fresh for a big hop hit from the Simcoe, Citra, Pacific Gem and Columbus dry hops. But a complex malt backbone including chocolate malt, roasted barley, oats and what, along with honey and molasses, means this beer will age well.”

Cask gravity at Pigs Ear 2013. It pours near black with a small tan head. The nose is piney, resin, earth, light smoke and orange peel. The taste is rich roast, varnish, pine, resin, liquorice, toast, spice and warming alcohol with a dry, bitter finish. Medium-full body and soft carbonation. Nice full flavour and good bitterness. Tasty.
