For an IPA to bear our hometown name, it better be potent. So we loaded it with our favorite American hops for a bitter punch. And with some over-the-top tropical fruit, citrus, pine and floral aromas and flavors, you’ve got one big Texas IPA, deserving of the Deep Ellum name.

Thanks to crajun for sending this one in trade! Can Slightly hazy amber pour smallish off-white head. Hop aroma of pine resin and citrus. The flavor has a big malt presence. Sweetness that comes through a generous amount of hops.. There are a few breweries out there that would sell this as their IIPA.

Can thanks to a trade! Pours a near clear amber orange with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of onion, weed and pine with a backing sweet grain note. Flavor starts with bitter pine and weed with a touch of earthy grains.

Got in a trade with Cyde. 12 ounce can into tulip glass, no canning date. Pours very hazy and cloudy orange amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of huge grapefruit, tangerine, orange rind, lemon zest, orange zest, pineapple, floral, grass, honey, bread, light pine, and floral earthiness. Outstanding aromas with big citrus hop complexity with a moderate malt balance; and nice strength. Taste of big grapefruit, orange zest, tangerine, orange rind, lemon zest, pineapple, floral, pine, grass, honey, bread, and floral earthiness. Good amount of pine resin bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes citrus, citrus zest, citrus rind, floral, pine, grass, honey, bread, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and balance of citrus/floral/pine hop flavors; with a fair amount of malt balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent IPA! Great hop flavor complexity and moderate malt balance; and very easy to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

Chilled bottle from Josh poured into a sampler glass, blind side-by-side with heady topper and Solitary and Solitude 6. Deep golden/light amber with very little head, and low carbonation. Taste is nicer herbal hops and some grass. My least favorite of the three, but still pretty good.

Shaker pint draft at the Flying Saucer in Addison, Texas. The pour is a slight hazed copper orange brown, with a small off white head. The aroma is orange citrus, dank, and a nice foundation of toasted malt. The taste is super fresh vibrant resin dank citrus hops, some dry floral, and all of the hop flavors are balanced with a great toasted malt, which also shows some caramel notes as it warms. The palate is medium bodied, soft natural carbonation, and a dry lightly mineral finish. Really nice, this is very much how I like my IPAs.

Sample at Petrol Station in Houston. The beer pours a cloudy dark copper color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Hops, citrus and malt in the nose. Medium-bodied with flavors of piney hops, tropical fruit and bready malt. The finish is fruity with a lingering hops aftertaste. Above average overall.

On tap at Hay merchant. Pours a cloudy orange with a small frothy off white head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is floral hop and citrus. Medium mouthfeel with sweet hop and honey with light bitter finish. Easy to drink a very good IPA from Deep Ellum.
