Spicy yet smooth. Brewed with 10 exotic spices.

This beer's roots are in Belgium, and the classic Wit biers produced by Belgium's brewers. The style gets its name from the white, milky appearance of this unfiltered wheat ale. The brewers of Samuel Adams® beer, taking inspiration from the Belgians, have created a classic of their own. On the malt side, we use malted two row Pale barley, malted wheat, and Munich malt to give this beer a crisp, malty, cereal finish and smooth mouth feel. The hops used are Noble Tettnang Tettnanger hops. At the end of the kettle boil, we add a proprietary spice blend to give Samuel Adams® White Ale a unique and complex flavor, without being overpowering or cloying. The spice blend includes orange and lemon peel, dried plum, grains of paradise, coriander, anise, hibiscus, rose hips, tamarind, and vanilla. It is this special blend of spices that gives Samuel Adams® White Ale its unique character, complexity and refreshing drinkability. The beer is coarse filtered, leaving a white haze from the malt proteins. Our proprietary top fermenting ale yeast ferments the beer, imparting its signature character - bright and slightly fruity.

Very slightly hazy amber beer. Smooth dry palate. Rich dry spicy malt with a strong finish of bubblegum and aniseedy alcohol. Warming afterglow. A bit different for a Witbier. Brandyish.

(bottle) clear pale gold with tall white head; aromas of dough and spices; watery palate; weak balanced flavour, not bad but nothing remarkable either

Looks lovely, golden and hazy and with a persistent if thin head. Smells like wheaty funk with hints of soap and burnt hair, spicy and hefe-ish. Tastes very bland, like a perfect medium point between the awfulness of Shock Top and the style’s current ambassador, Allagash White. The spices add somewhat of a curiosity factor to the beer, but only a short one. (2/20/09)

12 oz bottle from a sampler pack at Costco. Nose is light cloves, nutmeg, and bubblegum with a backgound of yeasty wheat. Hazy urine yellow with a medium pale yellow head. Flavor is cloves, white pepperiness, and wheat paste. Pretty typical witbier.

Poured a mildly hazy medium yellow. Puffy white head. Aroma is kinda boring. There’s some yeastiness, lemon/orange rind, coriander and other spices. A bit of wheat flavor. Taste is kinda bland but not bad. It’s relatively sweet with some ending spice and citrus. Some slickness in the feel. Pretty typical for a Sam Adams beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours lightly hazed golden with a white head. Clove and banana aroma. Flavor has lots of yeasty cloves and light bubble gum over strong biscuity malts. A light herbal aroma and flavor in there, too. Kind of a... milky finish? I don’t know how that makes sense, but it’s the best I can come up with right now. Not in a gross way or anything. Like a lot of Sam Adams, it’s solid enough.

reminds me of a blue moon in the way that it calls itself a white ale, but once youve tried as many whites as i have, its noticeable macro in its lack of flavor or aroma, a really weak try by sam adams.

I used to really like this beer, it was my intro to Belgian Wit beers. ( you could find this on tap until this year ) Pours a cloudy yellow-gold color with frothy white head. Sweet malt, spice and a little skunk in the aroma. Taste is wheaty, a touch of fruit, with a touch of with spices, and a bit of floral yeasty notes. This is an ok beer, but really lower end compared to many others in the style.

I enjoyed this as part of a 12 pack sampler while my band was recording. Appearance golden kinda clear with thin white head. Aroma faint, hint of malt. Taste super crisp, nice finish, mostly malts, pretty good.

12 oz bottle into tumbler. Pours a slightly hazy pale yellow with a fast collapsing head that leaves some pretty nice lacework. Aroma is wheat, cinnamon, faint orange peel, all too subdued. Flavor is nice and wheaty, fruity (orange peel, spiced apples), minty (?), some cheese. Taste is sweet and sour with a hint of bitterness in the finish. Carbonation is pretty high, medium-bodied. A crisp and refreshing wit.
