Can. Dark brown with a light tan head that lingers as a bare coat. Aroma of mocha, roasted barley, rice, milk. Low carbonation, getting towards watery. Very thin, but with moderate mocha and roasted flavours, a little grassy bitterness at the end.

Mick hooked me up with a can of this beer. So far Karuizawa Asama Kougen beers have been massively dissapointing. This poured a cola brown & had a huge head of beige foam with OK lacing. The aroma is creamy chocolate, some roasted notes & a hint of bacony smoke. Medium to light bodied with a smooth mouthfeel, the palate is pretty good. The taste is a satisfying roasted chocolate with a creamy quality to it. by far the best beer I’ve had from these guys. This is pretty good the others I had were below par at best.

350 ml can from Oginoya @ Saku, Nagano prefecture. Pours dark brown with a small head that doesn’t stay. Quite clear. Aroma has some roasted malts, sweet black bread. First sip feels quite smooth, round roastiness ending up in some slight bitterness. Coffee. I guess it’s my favourite from this brewery. It doesn’t feel like amber lager / vienna though, more like light bodied schwarzbier.
