Alesmith Decadence Anniversary Ale was originally brewed in 2005 to celebrate our first decade in business. Our brewers had such a great time concocting Alesmith Decadence that they decided to make it an annual event, and brew a new style each year to commemorate our anniversary.

Alesmith Decadence 2011 is a Maple Smoked Barley wine. Blending elements of two beer styles, smoke beer and barley-wine. Alesmith has created a unique, homebrew-inspired beer. Big and malty, with a huge Bamberg smoked-malt character, Alesmith Decadence 2011 has another very special ingredient: Vermont maple syrup. The smoky malt flavor is perfectly balanced by modest bittering hop additions. A rich, full-bodied beer designed to deliver a memorable drinking experience.

Join our anniversary celebration with Alesmith Decadence. You’ll soon discover why Alesmith is known around the world as the place to find legendary craftsmanship.

Bottle thanks to Will. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is toasted grain and caramel. Medium mouth, nice booze, dark fruits, caramel, maple, light smoke in the finish, very nice.

750mL bottle, pours an opaque, murky dark mahogany with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out light notes of smoke, medium maple, some caramel and dark fruits. Flavour brings out low-to-medium notes of smoke, moderate maple, lots of caramel and dark fruits. The smoke and maple, which initially set off alarm bells for me, are not too overbearing - they are well-situated. Dry smoky palate with a perfect amount of sweetness. I'm glad I waited more than a year to open this, as I'm sure the maple and smoke is better integrated than at bottling. Still, not my favourite flavours, but or what it is, it's great.

Pours deep dark amber into a snifter. Off-white head quickly recedes to hug rim. Smoke and dark caramel aroma. Sweet dark caramel and toffee upfront turning to sweet maple before the lasting hot earthy resin finish.
