Spiced IPA from a young micro brewery in Rotterdam. Very thick, ’papery’ lacing, egg-white, moussy head remaining closed most of the time, slightly hazy pale orange blonde colour with quiet fizz, turning fully misty and darker (almost amberish orange) with deposit. Aroma instantly reminds of lime peel and lime blossom, probably representing both the hops and the kaffir lime leaves cleverly interacting with each other and lending it the intended (and expected) oriental spiced cachet; I otherwise get hints of sugared lemon juice, fresh mandarin, lemon balm, hyssop, starfruit, ’stroopwafel’, tropical orchids, biscuit, red apple as well as a whiff of iron. Refreshing, immediately ethereal and spicy onset, hints of starfruit, lychee and kiwi, bit fizzy carbonation adding minerals and sourishness, light and supple maltiness, dryish due to hops already executing their bittering powers early on but still recognizably bready and sweetish, spicy kaffir lime leaves again working well with the aromatic hops and carrying into a dry, spicy, bitter finish, leafy, peppery, grapefruity and even somewhat quinine-like; the lime and other citrus effects, as well as a distinct herbal note (wormwood, hyssop) return retronasally. Some of the juicy malt sweetness creeps through but otherwise the hops completely dominate the finish, and they do that very well. I love most southern and eastern Asian cuisines and I can see this work well with certain Malay or Indonesian dishes. It appetizes, it dries, but most of all: it breathes an oriental fragrance which never becomes boring. Interesting find.

Bottle at Plan B, Rotterdam, Netherlands, Saturday 26th September 2015 Hazy murky yellowy gold with a white filmy head. It’s ok, bitterness is a little rough around the edges. Some citrus, but it is my second IPA of the day that I am not really enjoying. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov11 2.9

Sampled @ Camping Ratebeers 2015. Opaque murky yellow orange color, small white head. Smell and taste lightly malts, nicely hoppy, tropical fruits, a touch of iron in the finish. Decent body and carbonation. Started out well but the aftertaste is less good.

Bottle at tasting. Golden pour. Aroma of bitter grassy herbs. Taste is somewhat unpleasent, with lots of pale malt, grain and some herbal nettle. Like grassy pils. Not very good.
