In the mid 1800’s the Viennese had something new to brew as lighter styles of beer were popping up all over Europe. They created what is now know as Vienna malt, the amber malt was stewed after the barley was sprouted, this converted some of the malt starches into sugars, which were then caramelized by a gentle roasting. Our Vienna Lager is brewed with half Vienna malts creating a delicate malt aroma with a slightly caramelized and toasted malt character. Light Bronze in color with a slight bitterness, this beer finishes clean and crisp! Original Gravity 12.5 Plato.

As part of a sampler tray during my visit to Bellingham. Golden clear witha huge fluffy sandy colored head. Light bready aroma and a slightly sweet grain flavor. the hops come through a bit more than I expected and the full maltiness is not quite what I was expecting. Nice and tasty, attenuated nicely and lingering slightly woody tang at the end. Maybe a bit hoppy and bitter for the style.

Bright copper colour (like a shiny penny). It has that tinny, vaguely caramelly "Am Dark" nose. Decent body but there remains that caramelly metallic taste that is too simple for such a beer.

Shaker pint draft at Naked City in Seattle. Pour is clear golden with a small white head. Aroma of toasty caramel maltiness. Taste is malty semi sweetness, some nice grassiness in the back. The grainy toast from the nose gives this a nice additional element. Smooth thin medium palate coats the mouth a bit but finishes really clean. Crazy drinkable. Super fresh and clean, nice.
