Our winter beer is a dark and heartwarming beer with a full pure, slightly sweet taste and long soft bittery aftertaste. The ingredients are: seven types of malt (including rolled oats), two types of Belgian hops, brewing water and yeast. This is the ideal beer to make a cold and chilly winter evening cosy.

(tap) clear dark amber colour with a small brown head; aroma starts with strong soy sauce that tapers off to nothing; boozy, lightly sweet flavour with a light long bitter finish

Kerkom’s winter beer, with creamy, yellowish beige, sticky, stable head and very dark burgundy colour, hazy. Aroma of bitter chocolate, raisins, coriander, caramel, liquorice, rosemary, figs in ’jenever’, candi syrup, pomegranate, ginger, black pepper, Irish coffee. Candied fruits, raisins, pear, dates, sharpish spiciness (especially coriander seed), bit resinous, deep caramelly and chocolatey maltiness, roasted bitter touch in the finish, some peppery hops and warming, whisky-like alcohol. Rich and opulent winter warmer.

Zwart bier zonder schuim. Smaak is rokerig en licht zoet met sporen van caramel en anijs. Erg goed bier. Blijft lang hangen en smaakt ook in de zomer.

Opaque deep brown colour, small frothy tan head, recedes rather quickly, light lacing. Strong toasted sweet malty aroma, caramel, coffee, dark fruits syrup, brown sugar, some liquorice. Taste medium to heavy sweet, slightly bitter, toasted, coffee, spices. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, bitterweet finish, becoming more dry and malty bitter, alcohol, good!

Bottle, courtesy of MiP. Pours hazy dark copper brown with airy but stable light tan head. Dark aroma of malt, caramel, fruit, and roasted nuts. Sweet, malty flavour, with pronounced fruity touches, and bitter notes of hops and alcohol. Lingering, bitter aftertaste. Warming alcohol presence. A nice BSA, making one think of winter, despite the agreeable spring outside. :-)

Tasty dark beer with lots of spices and some nice aroma hopping. Sweet of course, but also with a bitter edge.

A bottle I picked up at Ohtsuki Saketen. 8.3% as it is December 1st it is time to start drinking winter/Christmas beers. Today is Winterkoninkse from Belgium. A dark almost black pour with a tan head. The aroma is wine or port-like, plums, toffee, chocolate. The taste is boozy, potent, burnt chocolate, some spicy notes & lots of candied fruit notes quite port like. A perfect winter warmer type beer, makes me want to be next to a fire on a snowy winter night...
