Bottle that I picked up at Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Gent, Belgium, 31-10-09 consumed 10-12-09 Initially poured clear copper in colour but then a rather careless second pour set forth all manner of yeast and sediment, it was now a hazy sludgy colour. Taste is pleasantly tangy with some slight sour cherries, oak and generally fruity throughout. Some oak on the nose. Nice gentle sour tang but tempered well by sweetness with some raw cane sugar flavours. Alcohol is well hidden, nice beer. A6 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.5

murky muddy brown with an explosive light tan head that fizzes out rapidly and leaves thin bubbles with scant lacing. Aroma is unique; unfinished, newly cut oak sawdust, and pine nuts. I have never sniffed a beer like this before. unique taste, like a smooth cream liquor with a bot of chili and acid (but sort of in a good way). some hints of butterscotch and light spice, maybe nutmeg. good body, very smooth. this is a strange one. I think maybe I like it, at least enough to try it again to see if it grows on me.

Bottle at the brewery. Floaters in a reddish amber beer. Thin ivory head. Spice/herb aroma, bit too carbonated makes in hard in the mouth. OK fruit in mouth. Not bad, spicy frutiy beer. OK

Bottled at Kerstbierfestival 2007. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt and caramel as well as lighter notes of spices. The flavor is sweet malty combined with notes of over ripe fruits and light notes of spices - especially cinnamon. Somewhat boring.

33 cL bottle, Kerstbierfestival 2007 in Essen/Belgium. Pours hazzlenut brown, golden and clear with a lacing white head. Spiced aroma. Flavour has a mild caramel malt base with little sweetness. On top is a herbal towards spiced mix. Lingering cloves and ginger notes in the flavour. Finish is mildly spiced. Strange, the waitor gave me this and told me this is the most difficult beer, but it holds nothing against some of the Danish heavy spiced X-max beers. Nice though.

Kerstbierfestival 2007 Hopfiger, zu schnell wässrig werdender Antrunk. Etwas karamellmalzig, genauso wenig nach Kräutern, wirekt lieblos. Das Bier bleibt leider oberflächlich. Naja Test vom 21.12.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,8,9,8,-,8 - 8,26

(Bottle 33 cl) Gaverhopke’s christmas-beer is quite dark with a slightly red tone. A bit hazy with a light brownish head. Has the Gaverhopke sour character, which is here suppressed by all the Christmas spices. I think it’s cardamom, that I sense. Which is quite unusual. Could bring reminders of the Swedish "Jule Mumma" (shiver....) 140804
