Gageleer superior dark is the dark version of the original blond, brewed with unique dark malts. The taste is characterized by a beautiful round herbal aroma of bog myrtle mixed with caramel, honey, roasted malt and is not sticky at all. The brown beer has a nice light brown foam and an alcohol percentage of 8.5%.

330ml bottle @ De Blankaart after a sunny birdwatching walk. Pours a lightly misty deep mahogany with voluminous beige head. Aroma is pleasantly sweet with an inviting toffee tone. Flavour profile continues the caramelised toffee, some dark candy rock suggestions, smooth palate. Hit the spot. Went well with spotting a Black Bellied Plover.

Bottle from a local bottle shop. Aroma is sweet brown malt with spices, caramel, herbs, medicinal notes. Flavour is rather sweet with a light bitterness. Body is medium. Bit too much with the sweetness and spice/herb overload.

Donkerbruin bier wat direct bij openen omhoog komt maar weinig schuim produceert. Smaak is bitterzoet met iets van anijs, gember, speculaas en drop. Best goed.

Huge, very dense & fine yellowish cream head over opaque reddish brown beer. Sweet, caramel, speculoos spices, mint, bit of camphor, liquorice, herbal (the myrica). Bitterish sweet, again liquorice, dried fruit. Some woody hints, and a persistent flavour reminding me of cola. Medium to better bodied, well carbonated, spritzy even. Creamy feel from the head. The bog myrtle seems to work better in the blonde versions. This exhibits too much hints as from a childrens' drink - taking away the alcohol, of course. Txs to Stef!

Bottle at home courtesy of the good people from De Samenscholing. Pours brown with white head. Sweet roasted brown malts, chestnuts, caramel, dark fruits, gagel, laurel, licorice, sweetened coffee. Quite sweet, profound bitter. Near gelly malty body, thick and slick mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Drinks like a nice abbey-esque beer with a bit disappointing greasy cardboardy finish, but I still quite like it. --- Beer merged from original tick of Gageleer Superior Dark on 16 Oct 2019 at 23:44 - Score: 6. Bottle at Water & Brood. Bit hazy brown with creamy beige head. Milk chocolate, caramel, chestnuts, light bagel herbs, thick malts, mint, eucalyptus. Solid medium sweet and medium bitter. Full malty body. It’s quite OK, but I prefer the sour white.

Fles gekregen van Inoven, geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een helder roodbruin bier met een volle beige schuim. Het heeft een kruidige geur. De smaak is kruidig, dropachtig en fruitig.
