This classic handcrafted ale, brewed with generous amounts of American hops, including Cascade, Centennial and Amarillo has a complex character and is very hoppy in both flavor and aroma. By using barley malt, Munich malt and crystal malt, this IPA is a delicious medium bodied beer bursting with flavor. A true India Pale Ale. Contract brewed for Costco by the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company under the brewer name Hopfen Und Malz (for the west coast market) and since mid 2009 by Matt Brewing as "New Yorker Brewing Co." (for the east coast market). Currently brewed at Stevens Point.

12oz bottle pours out crisp golden topped with a white head. Nose is floral hops some pine and a grain malt. Taste is more of the floral pine hops and some cereal malt. A pithy bitterness on the end.

12 oz bottle purchased at the Costco in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a clear orange golden with a small white head that falls fast. The aroma is floral grass along with soft orange bitter peel. The taste is floral, grass and orange bitter peel of the nose. The palate is medium bodied with active carbonation and malt resin along with a bit of mineral earth added to the bitter orange peel finish. Easy drinking.

Bottle. Poured a orange color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was lots of pine and grapefruit. Strong bitterness, the kind of bitterness you would have found in an IPA of yesteryear. Not bad, but just kind of there. It checks the boxes for the hop profile, though it's a tad on the leafy side of things with the hops being used. This is not meant as a slight, but this could have gone head-to-head with pretty much everyone's IPA from their local breweries about a decade ago.

I didn't find this horrible but closer to what I would expect from these guys than their stout, which was excellent. Lime and pine. Bitter end. OK malt complex. Bottle.

Pours amber with a thick white head. Aroma is weak, light malt. Taste is intensely hoppy, oaky resin. Palate is resinous. Good beer.

Nothing is wrong with this ipa at all. It is very bitter and though, but clean and a pretty standard ipa.

Nice, ever so slightly hazy copper and bronzed coloured body with a nice, three centimetre tall off-white head that stays afloat for a while. Aroma of grass, light pine, some mellow citrus and a touch of flowers - a touch of malt also around, but not much else. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and herbal flavour at first with a relatively balanced malt kick and some light hop bitterness noticeable on the tail end. Aftertaste is a touch sweet, with a lot of herbal notes, dry hay and some grassy bitterness noticeable at the end. Overall, a nicely balanced beer that doesn’t show like a typical IPA, but at the end of the day, isn’t a bad option, especially for the price! Is this worth going out of the way for? Absolutely not. However, is it as bad as these ratings would imply? Definitely not. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased as a full case (of course) at Costco in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 03-May-2017 for US$19,99/twenty-four pack, sampled at home next to Costco on 15-June-2017.
