This is a classic, American-Style pale ale that displays all of the complex bitterness and aroma from the hops of the Yakima Valley in Washington State. By using a top-fermenting ale yeas strain we bring out the floral and herbal flavor profiles. A clean, malty body is developed from the pale and light caramel malt. ABV 5.4% Bitterness 35 IBU. Contract brewed for Costco by the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company under the brewer name Hopfen Und Malz (for the west coast market) and since mid 2009 by Matt Brewing as "New Yorker Brewing Co." (for the east coast market).

12 oz bottle from Costco Bakersfield. Nose of light floral hops and malty caramel with a slight woody note. Clear orange with a small off white head. Flavor is slightly bitter with a malty backbone. Finish lightly bitter. Drinkable but nowhere near a great Pale Ale!

Pours clear copper with weak off white head. The aroma has notes of tart grapefruit and tangelo, a touch of sour citrus, some acidity and hints of maltiness. The taste is similar with some tart to sour citrus that rolls into bitterness by about midway with lingering light maltiness in the background.

12 oz bottle into Grolsch lager glass. Smells like Sugar, cheap grain. Pours deep golden with a medium head and excellent lacing. Taste is just slightly piney; starts sour, ends bitter. It’s more grainy. Medium carbonation. Overall, a very grainy pale ale. I’ve had worse, but I’ve had better.
