Another Australian dry lager, claiming to be 99.9% free of sugar - looking forward to this... Anyway, thanks Maxime for this bottle, interesting to compare with Carlton’s Pure Blonde. Thin, snow white, loose and coarse but regularly shaped, dissolving head leaving a whole patchwork of thin white foam on top of the liquid, which in itself has a cristal clear, pure golden robe with the same amount of sparkling as the Pure Blonde. Aroma is just a little bit stronger: dry breakfast cereals and old bird seed, hint of polenta or cornbread, iron, vague whiffs of industrial apple juice, flowers and wet paper. Neutral onset, minerally with softly souring carbo tingling a bit initially and certainly more pronounced than in the Pure Blonde, more grainy and sugar corn-like sweetishness underneath but still very subdued even in comparison with standard pale lager, thin and watery body, bit metallic. Not much more happens after that, but there is a very weak floral hoppy accent all the way at the back, with only the faintest suggestion of bitterness; admittedly, and like in the Pure Blonde, some very late bitterness does appear after swallowing. The initial sourishness, however soft, lingers a bit as well. Though still thin, this one has a bit more body than the Pure Blonde, to the same extent as an average industrial pale lager I would say; there is a bit more aroma and flavour to it as well, though in all, it too remains very subdued and very neutral. Let’s say this comes closer to the macro pale lager standard than the Pure Blonde, which comes across as a seriously watered down version of it. In comparing the two, this one is clearly the winner, but I cannot wait to move on to an actual craft beer now...

On tap at Ritz Hurstville. No aroma. Very pale yellow with solid white head. Tastes like slightly sweet mineral water. The end is short but strangely biscuity.

Can, 0.375l. Clear pale golden color with medium frothy white head and average sparkling appearance. Aroma is grainy, grassy, papery and vegetably. Mild crisp and dry lager taste with mild bitter finish. Light body, thin texture and soft carbonation in palate. Boring...

Bottled. A golden beer with a lazing white head. The aroma has notes of malt and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, brewing cereal, and metallic hops, leading to a bitter finish.

Pours pale gold with a large head that quickly fades into a scum-like layer.Nose shows loads of sweet vegetal and rice notes, with some faint spicy hops in the background, followed later by some clean malt.Very little in the way of flavours, there’s some cardboardy cereal malt before a short-lived bitterness kicks in.Carbonation is too high.
