Klare goldschimmernde Bernsteinfarben; kompakte, stabile Schaumkrone.

Bottle. Clear dark copper color, with a nice creamy head, quite lacing. Aroma is malty, honey, caramel, cereals. Taste is malty, bready, a light herbal note. More on the sweet side, but not cloying at all. Medium body, light carbonation, very easy to drink. Nice.

As Meister Dunkel at Café Express in Nürnberg, on tap. Hazy amber-brown body, off-white head. Caramelly, creamy aroma, milk caramel, bordering butter. Similar, sweetish taste, milk caramel, dash of cocoa, honey, not much hoppiness, barely some herbal touches, sweet. Okay, drinkable for its profile.

500 ml bottle. Unclear dark amber with a big fluffy head. Dark sour cherries, light red wine, oak, basement notes, roasted malt, lemon zest, caramel. Dry bitterness, malty sweetness, slightly sour. Medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonated, dry malty fruity bittersweet finish. A very complex and rustic Franconian Lager.

Pours dark amber to light brown, translucent if seen through light. Quite huge slightest off white head, rather dense, showing excellent retention and very nice lacing. Pleasantly soft malty aroma has nutty and slight toffee notes, plus a light hint of chocolate, among a light (pleasant) buttery feel. Maybe a herbal hint to give it a touch of freshness. Taste notes more or less follow the aroma, with a herbal background a bit more evident, especially in the finish. Lacks the softness that the smell suggested though and feels slightly rough at the edges. Moderately on the sweet side in both taste and aftertaste, with a slight buttery hint. Quite light in body with average, very fine bubbled carbonation. Quite rustic like their helles, but didn't really catch me.
