Stronger flavor than anticipated, but not one of their best.

Bottle from Izuya. Dark amber colour with big fluffy off-white head. Aroma is very malty, maybe even a little bit spicy, ginger perhaps. Biscuits, bit of something floral. Taste is good. Once again, lots of malt, finish has touch of bitterness and bit of a spike. Fruity too, cherry or raspberry hidden in there somewhere and lots of brown bread. Very drinkable.

15th Aug 2016: shared 33cl bottle with my mate who’s wife brought this back from Japan after a cycling tour. Name gives away the colour, the head a beige affair. Caramel maltiness ruled both the aroma and taste, my sweet tooth liking it immediately: some hop action calmed the sweetness down nicely.

Bottle from Hasegawa. Caramel, bread and light pine on the nose. Average carbonation with a light body. Caramel and light brown sugar on the palate. Sweet with some light grassy bitterness on the finish. Pretty forgettable.

Bottle@yesprs - Gusher! Gushes golden orange with biiiiig white head. Aroma and taste is sweet malty, caramel, some herbal hoppy notes, but artificial sour medicinal taste over riding this for me.

5.5% a clear amber brown with an off-white head. Malty caramel, grains with some citrusy hops in the aroma. The taste is fairly neutral, mild caramel, grains, slightly bitter finish. Not as sweet as I’d expect from an amber ale, more of a solid all around ale that doesn’t disappoint nor does it really please. As average as can be. As I drink it with my meal it grows on me with more maltiness coming through & a nice full mouthfeel-very satisfying. It’s quite bready, it went from average to I like it over the course of a bottle.

Draught at Wachi in Kyoto. Medium amber with orange. Lace. Fragrant amber malt and hop aroma, with fruits. Earthy amber malt flavor, with a bit of caramel and chocolate. Fruity—berries? Great hops. Powerful, long-lasting finish of hops, light amber malt and a bit of fruit. Very well balanced.
