Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is soft with a mineral note. Some light barnyard, earthy notes. Light herbal character. Hints of citrus, underripe stone fruit and green tropical fruit. Faint oak notes and light oxidation. Pours a slightly hazy, copper orange with a medium sized, white head that recedes fairly quickly to the edges where it lingers. No lacing or legs. Flavor is moderately acidic, but fairly soft. Some oxidation coming through in the form of cork and wet cardboard. Light oak and mineral notes. Medium light barnyard funk and herbal notes. Light fruit notes with a bit of a red apple and pear note. Some faint citrus and stone fruit notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice gueuze, but not a particularly amazing one. The oxidation is starting to take over the flavor a bit and the fruit notes are slightly odd. Better as it opens up.

Bottle shared by Joe on 6/10/16.
Still wonderfully carbonated, with a soft golden-honey-marmalade appearance and a white head atop that slowly recedes to the edges.
Yet again, I loved the stuff, having not had it since 2006 or 2007. Here it still has its big, acidic bite, full of hard cheese rind-like lactic acidity, wood and lime. Yet it certainly has softened somewhat, as expected. Really hasn’t lost much, if anything, unless you really want that young, punishingly sour experience. I can certainly take it or leave it, and this still has plenty of sourness left in the tank, with tight carbonation and no alcohol or flaw. It looked like this was going to be the run-away favorite/best bottle of the night until we opened, yep, Blauw. That one’s balance, and deep but mild flavors outdo this one by a bit, I think, though of course much of it is preference. Glad to see that these beers (when stored properly) are still going VERY strong.

Had this today at DHVL. Shared with with Joost and other staff since I was by myself and too full from eating a lot of stew. Very few of these still remain for purchase on-site. none for To-Go. Enjoyed @ cellar temp in a basket in a Geuze glass.

A - Orange and gold color of out only a small bit of sediment. 1 finger of creamy head. Didn’t fade at all very resilient.

S - The nose is very classically 3 F. Musty lemon grass, some salt and very present oak nose with kiwi and mango.

T - I get a minor copper penny taste that starts in the middle and sticks around for a while. Must and rotten apples with oak tannin and some pineapple and fig. Slightly cheesy with lemon and like tartness

M - Mouthfeel is full bodied, still a lot of carbonation and the copper and lemon stick around for a while

O - Like Blauw, I would have loved to have this fresh. Storage and bottle variation so I’ll say I prefer Roze to Blauw but I have no idea how Blauw was kept but this is tasting great for a beer bottled in 2001 (according to Joost).

Bottle shared at DHVL side by side with Blauw. Pours hazy dark golden with a big off white head. Aroma of barnyard funk, light wet dog and old laundry (in a good way). Flavour is light moderate acidic, fairly soft in the mouthfeel. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Great, but not up to the Blauw.

Bottle from a tasting two years ago. Label thanks to Thomas! Thank you! I’ve been looking for this for two years! Pours orange. Nose and taste of aged cheese, woody funk, oak and light barnyard. Medium body. A bit dryer on the palate than Blauw.
