Tap at Horse Brass. Aroma is good, very hoppy, lots of pine. Sticky. Taste is not so exciting, but still has a decent jammy fruitiness. Hops are not so strong. Nice though. --- Beer merged from original tick of Red Ryeot on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:05 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 9 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Pint can pours with a clear amber to light mahogany colored body that supports a nice tan head of foam. The modest aroma offers up malts, a rye malt sort of spicy hop sensation and then a thin malt driven sweet smelling nuttiness. The taste delivers smooth sweet malts and thin sweet nuttiness bumping up against spicy to woody hop bitterness. This attains a pleasing balance and depth with plenty going on. I can do more of this.

So with La Cumbre you usually get a fine brew and a very interesting label. My 16 oz can of Red Ryeot is no exception. Bought at Trader Joe's in Santa Fe in a four pack and carried home. It needs delivery in a glass to appreciate. Into my .47 liter New Belgium tasting glass it goes. A dark red-amber body shows up with a heroic light tan head that appears to lace nicely. The scent is definitely hoppy. A drink brings pine needles, hay, citrus and something grainy, must be the rye. Not exciting at first but it gets better as it goes. A very nice, lingering bitterness at the end. Maybe not the equal of Elevated but still well worth it.

Kind of murky-looking, dull amber. Thin head. The aroma has a lot of rye and crystal malt...you knew it would be chewy and it is. On the palate, clean, chewy. Light alcohol, heavy rye, earthy hops, medium bitterness. Not my type of beer but seems to hit where it aimed.

Can shares by Kyle, thanks! Pours a clear red with an amber hue with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a lot of sweet grains and rye with grass and a touch of pine supporting.
