Bottled, from Slowbeer, Melbourne, Australia. Hazy deep amber, small head. Oaky nose with banana and marzipan. Sweet with medium-full body and well rounded mouthfeel. Tropical fruit, marzipan, cocos and sugar. Mildly warming finish.

From a 330ml bottle on 31/3/2014. Pours a very slightly cloudy deep golden with a small head. Has a modest aroma of pear, apple and dried fruit, with some yeasty notes. It’s quite straight flavour wise, with bready malt and lots of sweet fruit (pair and apple again), honey, and just a dash of spice, sour citrus and alcohol at the back. Has a slick palate and average carbonation. A nice sweet beer, but there’s nothing here that will really blow your hair back.

Bottle. Gold with a white head that fades to a coat. Aroma of oranges, hay, herbs, dough, a whiff of grapey booze. Syrupy, medium carbonation. Sweet with creeping herbal and peppery notes, moderate bitterness. Dough and oranges with a musty grapeyness that’s muscular but well-integrated. There is a more obvious breath of cognac the end. Good. Lacks some vibrancy due to the aging, but the cognac barrel adds complexity and is very well integrated.
