Flora is the wine barrel-aged version of Florence, our grandfather’s sister, as well as the name of our Farmstead® wheat ale. In her honor, we fill French oak wine barrels with Florence and allow the beer to mature in the presence of our resident microflora. After extended aging, a beautifully complex beer emerges; Florence becomes Flora.

Bottle split at Leighton's 20K, big thanks to the deviant himself for this Juan, 01/03/17. Golden blonde with a decent off white head that retains well. Nose is lemon rind, hint of lime, damp straw, grassy vibes, light spice pinch, mellow barrel tunes. Taste comprises damp straw, light funk, vinous, green berry must, on the turn melon, grains. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid well balanced saison.

Oxford tastings; bottled November 2016
Hazy blond color. Sour beer with nice lemon character, strong acidity, hint of acetic acid, balance and enough complexity.
Very good (not worth the price point though).

Hazy, blonde. Thin head. Nice bretty aroma, with a touch of pedio, some dusty barrel notes. On the palate, dry, earthy, tart, a bit dusty, then woody notes come through. Brettanomyces accents throughout. Lemon juice tartness. Nice balance. Still some sweetness left in the beer. Refreshing and complex.

Bottle shared at the Leighton mega 20k tasting. 1/03/2017. Huge thanks to Leighton for this one. A light hazed pale yellow straw coloured pour with a a lasting white head. Aroma is funky grapey, sour, lychee, saison yeast. Flavour is composed of crisp tart, pithy lemon, bretty, funky grapey fruits, woody tannin. Palate is tart and refreshing, pithy, drying finish, frothy carbonation. Good. Nice hill Farmstead yeast. Good.

Bottle shared in London for the 20k - sourced from the brewery. Pours clear yellow-gold with a frothy, white head. Restrained aroma, some lemon peel, flaked wheat, subtle yeast, minimal funk. Light sweet flavour with quite modest lemony tang, some melon, woody dryness, white wine, citrus peel. Light bodied with delicate, massaging carbonation. Super clean finish, more lightly tart lemon, restrained wheaty sweetness, some straw, soft funk. Subtle to an incredible level, but still nicely layered. Hugely drinkable. Excellent.
