A light, floral Golden Ale with hibiscus flowers brewed for perfect summer refreshment. Enjoy in a glass to see a crystalline pink body crowned with a fluffy cloud of rosy-tinged foam. Lightly sweet, exceptionally balanced, and only in bloom for a limited time.

Can from Tanakaya. Light berry and floral aromas. Thin body, but not overly so. Some malt is there. Not sweet either, kind of dry and enjoyable, but still a little one dimensional. Unpopular seasonal makes it’s way to Japan part 100.

12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 4/30/2014. Pours slightly hazy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of berries, pear, apple, white grape, orange peel, flowers, honey, bread, herbal, grass, and herbal/floral earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of pale/bready malt and hibiscus/orange peel spice notes; with decent strength. Taste of berries, pear, apple, white grape, orange peel, flowers, honey, bread, herbal, grass, light pepper, and herbal/floral earthiness. Slight earthy bitterness/tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of berries, pear, apple, white grape, orange peel, flowers, honey, bread, and herbal/floral earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Good balance and robustness of pale/bready malts and hibiscus/orange peel spice flavors; with a solid malt/bitterness balance and minimal cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a pretty good hibiscus spiced beer. Good balance and robustness of pale/bready malt and hibiscus/orange peel spice flavors; and very smooth and fairly crisp to drink. A pleasant and enjoyable offering.

Location: Draft at the Milwaukee Ave Brewpub, 7/16/14
Aroma: The nose is on the sweet side, orange/other fruit, floral, herbal, and some candy notes
Appearance: This one pours a clear reddish-pink color with an off-white head and decent lace
Flavor: The flavor is much the same, on the sweet side for sure, with some floral/herbal notes
Palate: The body is light-medium, with a pretty solid overall mouthfeel, and a clean finish
Overall Impression: I enjoyed this beer well enough. Definitely something that should be tried. More of an enjoyable thirst quencher than a standout beer, but still something easily enjoyed.

In the can @ home, thanks to TheAlum for sending. Pours a pinkish / dark orange appearance with a tan head. Definitely some butter in the nose along with potpourri, grass, hay, and hibiscus. Decent mouth feel. Moderate carbonation. Fairly dry. Some citrus and floral notes. More butter in the mouth. Not something I’d want again.

12 oz. can, single from Lemon Tree. Even the first bit of beer in the glass has amber color with pinkish highlights. Foam fizzles away pretty quickly. Malted notes with just a bit of flower to it, perhaps some chamomile. Malts are pretty forward, with a side impression of rose petal, but again, not overly flowery. A good thing because then I’d start thinking about shampoo. Instead, the malts stick to my lips, and there a nice edge of flower or watermelon on a beer that’s not delicate, but quite substantial.

12 oz can purchased at Lolo’s in the Midway airport, Chicago, Illinois. Apr 30 2014 stamped on the bottom of the can. The pour is golden pink, mostly clear with a 1/2 inch white head that also has a pinkish hue. The aroma is the hibiscus floral along with a sweet soft caramel malt. The taste is the hibiscus floral and sweet malt, along with a noticeable orange/lemon citrus. The palate is light bodied with soft active carbonation and a pleasant grass floral dry finish. Easy drinking beer.

Purchased at a random corner liquor store, enjoyed while at a BYOB w/ friends in Chicago, IL. Overall I think this pares well with a light meal, but I wouldn’t really seek it out under other circumstances. Appearance is a moderately dark pinkish hue with a thin white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is lightly floral with subtle malt. Taste is clean and easy drinking, moderately high carbonation, light tart. It’s good.

From a can smell of older lager. Not as pink colored as I expected, actually more like a slightly darker pale ale. Taste is slightly tart but for the most part this beer comes across more like your typical fruit beer. Good co2. However, there is this slight rude background in there. Finish is typical unsweetened fruit beer. Not impressed but that slight tartness takes the edge off of it.

12oz can poured into a shaker. Pours a clear reddish orange with minimal head. Aroma of grains with just a hint of light berry. Taste is light tart. A little berry and a hint of citrus with a big grain backbone. Medium bodied with a slightly sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, not bad. Good brew for drinking outside on a hot day.

A reddish copper ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with light sorel like qualities. In mouth, a lightly sourish malt with fruit juice, grassy, light bodied. So-so.
