Draft @ Borefts 2014. While not as good as the blueberry, this was still quite an amazing beer. Black color, with that lovely smell of roasted malt and peat. Taste of coffee, thick cacao, peat, smoke and a nice balancing fruitiness of the cassis.

Borefts Beer Festival 2014. Black with a lasting light brown head. Aroma of tar, iodine and chocolate. Sweet and tart flavour with black currant and peat smoke going up against each other. Experiment gone wrong, but still obviously a world class base beer

Tap at Borefts 2014. Pours black with a big red brown head. Aroma of roast, peat, blackcurrents, caramel, dark chocolate and fudge. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter. Full bodied with light to moderate carbonation.

Tap @ Borefts 2014, small sample. Dark color, short brown head. Aroma of dark roasted malts, sweet dark fruit, lots of peat, slight honey. Base beer is pushed away by fruit and peat. Weird combination. Didnt really like it. Blasphemy, radlering Kaggen.

On tap at Borefts ’14. Black, beige head. Aroma of peat, chocolate, blackberries, blueberries, light tart, ash, heavy roast. Flavour is tart and earthy peat at the same time, and it clashes. Lots of berries, some chocolate, roast, peat, coffee. Medium to full-bodied. Not a match made in heaven I’m afraid.

At BBF 2014 . Pours black, good grey head. Taste is bitter, peated . The peat brings along some sourness and claches completely with the fruit . Balance is far gone, and mouthfeel is too thin , I might be crazy - perhaps incapable of tasting goodness in beers - but I think this is very awefull & not how it should have worked out concidering ... I do not understand the fuzz about this one , since all other ratings seem to be way higher ... Perhaps its my hate-for-peat , but that doesnt explain the other aspects I mentioned above ...

Sampled @ Borefts 2014. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized dark brown with a touch of pink head. Weird! But it looks very nice actually. Aroma is malts, peat, leather. Taste malts, some smoke, some roast, peat, leather, red fruit, a bit weird as well. Some alcohol, warming alcoholic finish. Not my favorite.

@Borefts 2014, zwart met fijne smalle bruine, chocolade kraag, lekker kleverig. aroma van de laphroaig is goed aanwezig evenals de hout en fruitzuur tonen. smaken zijn zuurtje van de zwarte bes, stevig hout/turf de, redelijk (vol)moutig, alcoholisch, whiskey, iets van karton, vanille, gebrande en geroosterde mouten. afdronk is wat zuur fruitig van de zwarte bes, volle body. aparte combinatie dit bier van een stout met het zuurtje van de bessen, vond wel dat de zuurtonen het bier iets té overheersten. maar al met al goed spul :) --- Beer merged from original tick of Kaggen! Sampled @ Borefts 14. Perfect black colour with a lovely dark brown head. Smells peat, roasty, some tar, some coal, some earth. Tastes peat, roasty, fruity and slightly sour. I don’t like peat/sour combinations. Full body, soft carbo.
