Aroma of malt, caramel, tropical fruits, grapefruit, hops. Lots and lots of hops, this is agressively hopped. Surprisingly, there is a potent Brett funkiness in the aroma. Flavour is grapefruit, orange marmalade. Finish is moderate to medium hoppy bitterness. Masterful, especially because of the use of Brett.

Tap at Wildeman, Amsterdam: Hazy golden coloured brew with an sweet dry bitter taste. Hints of citrus, candy, caramel and spices, again an good beer from Rodenburg.

Thuis uit een flesje. Bruin, weinig schuim. Zwaar hop aroma, goede bittere smaak, ook bittere nasmaak.

Être hoptimist et brouillon n'est pas incompatible. Et si cette Bronkhorster jouit d'une amertume ciselée (66 d'IBU), la base maltée dense et riche, brouille la donne et les arômes. L'alcool, de son côté, à 9,5 % ne se ressent pas et manque quelque peu de vivacité. Le visuel est moyen sir un blond orangé trouble, quasiment sans mousse. Le nez est brouillon sur le miel, les herbez, le résineux, le pamplemousse et la marmelade d'orange. L'amertume n'est pas des plus vives sur l'attaque, étouffée par une base maltée trop douce. Pas d'évolution aromatique par rapport au nez sur un amalgame peu lisible. La deuxième bouche est sur une amertume à la fois plus vive et plus fine et l'arrière bouche gagne même en lisibilité avec une amertume aux airs de bitter italien. Le final, un peu court, n'apporte rien. Même si cette hoptimist n'est pas exceptionnelle, elle en reste honnête...j'essaye d'être positif.

Bottle. Amber color. Ripe tropical fruit and oily grassy hops in the aroma. Very firm oily grassy citric hopbitter flavor. Fairly dry, Well attanuated. Slightly alcoholic. Ripe tropical fruit in the background. Good beer.

Cask at GBBF 2019. Hazy honey golden color. Nose is honey and lemons. Very sweet, honey malts, bitter finish. Out of balance.
