Appearance- dark, murky brown, a giant beige head of around 4 fingers which hangs around. Aroma- dark malts, lots of toffee and caramel, biscuity malt, raisin, brown bread. Taste- coffee, dark bready malt, milk chocolate, hop bitterness, some dark fruits alongside citrus fruit, treacle, burnt toast, caramel. Tasty, certainly more black than IPA.

Pours brown with a light tan head that turns whispy and lingers. Aroma is pine with light cacao undertones. Taste is mildly sweet/sour up front, turning sour with mild bitterness at the finish. Body is medium, a touch oily. Good but far from my favorite bIPA.

Note from Cafe Bruxelles, Leicester. Dark brown, clear with a loose tan head. Black cherry, some resin, toffee and burnt malts in the aroma. Sweet initial taste with a flavourful nutty roast character near the finish. Leafy hops on the aftertaste. This is pretty decent.

Malty and hopy taste, citrus fruit notes, light coffee and toffee notes, light sour notes, medium bitter.
