Nelson Sauvignon is a New Year beer it is fermented with ale yeast, brettanomyces and enzymes. Then it has been aged three months in Austrian white wine casks. Very dry, very vinous and very delicious.

Bottled. Hazy golden color, short head. Aroma of hop, fruit like grapes and citrus, brett yeast, white wine, bubblegum. Sparkling on the tongue like a champagne. Dry taste, slight sweet, bit bitter. I’m not a huge fan of champagnebeers and their carbonation, but this one is ok.

Bottled 75cl (BB 09/2019)
Amber-red, a bit hazy color, small white head. Passion fruit, kiwi and other exotic aromas in the nose. Flavor has hops, passion fruit, kiwi fruit, pineapple plus some oak. Rounded mouthfeel. Sweetish and simple. Pleasant beer to sip but quite an average for a price of 24€ per bottle. Plus 4 ratings here are huge overratings!

Light gushing to enormous fluffy dirty white head over hazy amber-orange beer, lively carbonated. Very delicate yet intense grape/vinous nose, as white wine, accentuated by lambic-like Brett aroma’s. Superb! Noble hops and grapes to the best of mixes; fruitesters (white grapes, but also banana, passion fruit and grapefruit). End bitterness. Spritzy carbonated feel, creamy texture for the head, velvety-slick as peachskin or -juice for the beer. Long fruity aftertastes, refreshing. Truly superb realisation, amongst the best by Mikkeller - as by De Proef!

Bottle with a best before of 15/09/2019 thanks to bu11zeye. That said drink now as this stuff is AWESOME! Pours with a hazy golden body and a large white head. Aroma is all hops at first. Dank, ruby red grapefruit, pine and fruity. Some vinous and pineapple characters follow as it warms, but the grapefruit dominates. Taste is red grapefruit, herbaceous and brett c. Lively bubbles. Spectacular!

Smooth and full bodied. Flavor is brett, berries, hops and yeast. Perfectly balanced and extremely tasty. Dry and fruity end. This is LOVELY

Amber with a bubbly disappearing off-white head. Aroma of exotic fruit and brett. Smells very sweet in fact, but thanks to the leather and earth of the brett, the Nelson Sauvin hops don’t come out as dominating as usual. The flavour is extraordinary. Dry with an almost mineral quality, yet with a lovely fruity sweetness. Malt, caramel, grapes, pineapple, grass, hay, earth. I get the champagne reference. Unique beer in all kinds of ways. This beer doesn’t deserve to be a one-off new years beer!
