Nelson Sauvignon is a New Year beer it is fermented with ale yeast, brettanomyces and enzymes. Then it has been aged three months in Austrian white wine casks. Very dry, very vinous and very delicious.

From a bottle at RateBeer 100 for 100 GBW event. Think it was this one. Brown with a cream head. Over ripe grapes, dough, light gooseberry sourness. Just medium bodied. Strong, both sweet and a little tart, some herbal bitterness. Good but seems forced rather than expressive in character.

330 ml can as 'Nelson Sauvin Brut', bb 06/12/17. Amber, hazy body, with a big, fluffy, lacing, light yellow head. Aroma of white wine, wood, grapes, candy sugar, Brett, citrus, some vanilla. Tastes similar, with some alcohol, some bitter hops. mouthfeel, with a carbonation. Finishes dry, bitter, tart, vinous, Bretty, wooden, hoppy, with white grapes, melon, pine. Very nice. Interesting mix of white wine barrel, grapes, Brett and hops. Quite heavy and a bit alcoholic in the taste, with a quite puckering dryness towards the finish. Still really enjoyable, complex stuff. 11.2 ounce can, best before October 1st, 2019.
It pours a somewhat hazy orange gold with an initial massive head of foam. That settled down quickly leaving good lacing behind.
Grape forward, hop forward, actually spicy, no fruity hop forward smell. Passion fruit for sure. Lots of sweet notes.
Passionfruit and grapes totally up front and delicious. I'm not getting much of the oranges but that's okay. Passionfruit lingers in the finish and aftertaste.
Medium bodied with mild carbonation.
Not sure if it's worth $9 a can but I am enjoying the one can I bought.

0.3 l on tap at 'Be Unorthodox'. Clear, amber with a white layer. Sweetish, slightly sourish-funky, moderately fruity and slightly resiny aroma of caramel, dried apricot, Sherry, pine, some leather and a touch of clove. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, a bit sourish-funky, yeasty-spicy, slightly woody and a little fruity taste of caramel, clove, Sherry, dried apricot, a touch of wine and pine, followed by a medium long, quite bitter, moderately tart, woody-dry and slightly funky finish. Medium to full body, creamy, a bit astringent and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Complex stuff, quite demanding but also very interesting.

Nice soft cherry aroma. Great little head and darker golden body. Flavour is soft hops and a hint of rose wine. Dry finish. Perfectly adequate but not necessarily exciting.
