Bottle at the May De Molen monthly tasting. Poured a dark mahogany colour with a big frothy tan head. The aroma of chocolate and red berries really hits you. The flavour is medium to strong bitter. Given the abv I was surprised that there was not more liquorice. The red berry fruit is still thee with a little coffee and chocolate there in the background too. The texture is oily. I expected this beer to be big bigger and over the top, but it was smooth and creamy and the alcohol well controlled. A superb beer.

Draft. A black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, soy sauce, and alcohol, leading to a dry finish.

Tap @ de Molen. Dark color, medium lasting head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, port wine, brown sugar, fruity notes, intense and complex. Taste is a perfect match of sweet and bitter, with lots of chocolat and roasted malt. Only a tiny bit of alcohol, far less than you would expect from a 20% Eisbock. Lovely drinker, palate lingers on. Stunning beer!

Sample @ CBC. Nice head with excellent duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are roast malt, chocolate, wood, licorice and hops. Nice, smooth, rich and dry.

Draught @ CBC. Pours hazy black with a small light brown head. Aroma of malts, oak, brown sugar, coffee, light sourness, alcohol. Flavor is rich sweet malt, caramel, oak, dark chocolate, coffee, booze. Full body, creamy mouthfeel, flat carbonation, warming alcoholic finish. 030513

Draught at CBC. Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. Almost black colour. Heavy malty and moderate hoppy aroma. Heavy bitter wonderfull flavor. Nice chocolate notes. Long complex heavy bitter finish. Excellent creamy palate. Wonderfull.

Fat på CBC 2013. Smak och doft av choklad, ek, vanilj med toner av torkad frukt ch vanilj. Viss syrlighet, god sötma som avrundas med lätt beska. Hög alkohol som tar fram smakerna och håller sig i bakgrunden. Väldigt gott.

On tap at CBC, pours a cloudy dark orange with a small off-white head. Aroma of intense fruit, loads of alcohol, and residual sugar -- intense nose. Flavour is insane, with notes of liqueurized fruits, alcohol, and caramel. Ridiculous stuff. It's drinkable in a couple of ounces, which I guess is what it's made for, but it's not that enjoyable. Decent.

CBC. Black with a brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, burnt malt and alcohol. Flavor is very sweet and rather bitter. Dry and roasted rather bitter finish with heavy alcohol. Much better than expected for 20 % ABV beer. 030513
