Keg at Hoppy Loft, 6th October 14. Straw coloured, murky IPA. The aroma is nicely hopped and it drinks well. Pretty good

Bottle. Aroma fruity, exotic, lychee. Clear orange to amber colour. Generous malty sweetness balanced with loads of fruity exotic hoppiness. Long fruity hoppy finish. Very good.

Tap at Craft Beer Works Kamikaze, Osaka. Hazy orange color, small steady white head. Aroma has pine needles, resin and mango-like fruityness. Medium-bodied. Piney (spruce?), dry, resiny hoppy flavor. Finish has grapefruit too. Easy to drink.

Pours a light to medium orange gold color with a thick white head. The liquid is fairly cloudy, though I didn’t really try to keep the sediment in the bottle and there’s quite a bit of it. The head is medium sized and looks like a blanket of white cotton candy. It’s a sturdy layer of fine bubbles that sticks around for quite awhile. The aroma is somewhat underwhelming. I fear that it’s a result of shipping and age, but I bought the bottle soon after it hit my local store’s shelf. At any rate, I’m getting too much pale malt. The hop aroma is certainly present but mild. There’s orange, grass, pineapple, berry, lemon, mint. All good stuff, but I wish it was dialed up in intensity. On the other hand, the taste shows off more of the hop flavor than the aroma. It’s full of juicy, tropical fruit flavor. Big on tangerine and pineapple. Bitterness is handled well, a crisp bite that doesn’t overpower the hop flavors but still cleans up what little malt sweetness is present. The beer’s pale malt backbone is well in the background, maintaining its supporting role. Light on the palate. Normal, unremarkable carbonation. This is a solid beer, and I think the aroma was once there. I’d love to try it fresher in the future. That said, I think reviewers should rate the beer as they find it, given reasonable circumstances. As a consumer, it doesn’t really matter to me how the beer tastes under ideal conditions. It matters how it tastes when I drink it. And that’s probably enough ranting for me.

4.75 oz. draft sample. Hazy yellow with fast diminishing head, little lace. Aroma has a soft fruit tones with a moderate herbal hop influence.
Flavor is much like the aroma. Lightly fruits (peach and grapefruit) citrus rind, with a drying herbal hop character in the finish. Bitterness lingers for a good amount. Medium body and carbonation. This is a mighty fine brew. Pretty solid overall.

Bottle pour. This one is a little different. A little light for an imperial IPA, but a lot of flavor. A lot of hops up front with a bitter finish. A boozy aroma, but it doesn’t really translate to the taste. Some citrus fruit and bread flavor as well. Unique, and I can say I really enjoy this.

Not as good as you hope. A bit empty. Tried a couple times each time thinking it would improve. Not yet.

From a unknown bottle size (stubbie) on 23/2/2014 (shared with Butz). Pours a murky dark golden orange with almost no head. The aroma features caramel malt and some fruity notes. Flavour wise, you get orange, lemon, peel, marmalade, honey grapefruit, and an almost salty spiciness. Has a fullish body and quite lively carbonation. The bitterness is intense, and wins out over the sweetness in the end. Not exactly US IIPA in style, but certainly related, and very nice stuff.

Bottle, 11C. Almost clear amber with a tight white head that lasts well. Aroma of mandarins, grapefruit, hay, hints of herbs. Medium bodied, lowish carbonation, quite creamy. Sweet and bitter citrus with herbal touches, gracile and quite dry throughout. Moderate to high bitterness with lingering grapefruit and a little pine. Not all that exciting but classy.
