In the spirit of tenacity and camaraderie, Mettle was first created to highlight the milestone of our inaugural year as a brewery. With the intense dry-hop duo of Amarillo and Citra, this medium-bodied Double IPA beckons with aromatics of pineapple, mango, orange, and a hoppy dankness. A fusion of orange, melon, light pineapple, and a subtle pithiness round out the palate with a smooth, pillowy mouthfeel. We continue to brew Mettle in recognition of our devoted following of hopheads that have supported us from the very beginning.

STYLE: Double IPA

750 ml bottle poured into a Spiegelau tulip. Bottled on 4/1/2016. Batch 6 perhaps? Hazy orange yellow with thin off-white head. Aromas of big orange and grapefruit citrus, tropical fruit, floral notes, some toast and biscuit. Tastes of tropical fruit, citrus, some malt and biscuit, floral notes. Medium body with a semi-dry finish. Great citrusy nose and taste.

Bottle into snifter showing practically opaque yellow with a finger of clean white foam. The nose shows light malts with a lot of cannabis. The palate is light bodied and medium carbonated. Flavors of dry pineapple resin and a light zestiness on the palate. Light bitterness on the finish.

Bottle courtesy of Håkan. Pours very hazy tiny burnt deep yellow with a small creamy white head that leaves some spotty trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is fruity, grassy and floral with crackers, grapefruit juice, mango, pineapple, freshly cut grass, pine needles, minerals, lemonz est and very subtle hints of alcohol. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter, fruity, grass and floral. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tiny dry, slightly astringent and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and bitter with unripe tropical fruits, grass and floral notes. As expected another great Trillium hoppy beer!

750 ml bottle with no bottle date? No bottle date? Mass production... Yep. Thanks to Willrunforbeer on this gem. Grapefruit juice appearance, light bubbly head. Aroma is bold citrus, peach, tropical fruit and some mild grain.

The citrus is bold with limes and hints of grapefruit upfront. The pine is here without ever really becoming resinous. Good amount of fruits and malts provide some balance. Texture is somewhat dry. Gosh damn, this is nice. Well beyond an average imperial IPA. Lovely!

Bottle from Clark. Dated 12/10/15. It pours a nice orange color with an off white head. The aroma has peach, orange and grapefruit with some light honey and dank. The flavor has a little more dank and hop spice along with orange, peach and mango. Pretty hefty body with some honeyed malts and sweet tropical fruit. Dank with some hop spice in a medium bitter finish. Kind of like their other hoppy beers only with a bit more body and honey sweetness. Another yum beer from Trillium.
