Mesjokke is het verhaal van vier vrienden die een gemeenschappelijke jongensdroom wilden vervullen: het maken van een verantwoorde, ongehoord lekkere chocolade. En dat op geheel transparante manier.
CEAUX heeft als thema: “waarom makkelijk doen als het ook moeilijk kan”. Dit komt terug in alles wat CEAUX doet. Geen massa geproduceerd bier dat iedereen “wel lust”, maar uitgesproken bier met smaken die je misschien nog niet kent.
Let’s CEAUX Mesjokke krijgt zijn karakter van de cacao van de boerderij van Giff Laube en Jose Enrique Herrera in Nicaragua. Met aandacht en veel plezier zijn deze bonen geroosterd, gecrackt en gewinnowed in de Mesjokke-chocolade fabriek in Nieuwegein.
Let’s CEAUX Mesjokke is een zogenaamde steam-lager. Dit is een bier met een uitgesproken gistprofiel door deze ondergister op bovengistende temperaturen te laten vergisten. De lagering gebeurd op cacau-nibs wat voor de karakteristieke smaak zorgt.

From tap at De Zaak, Utrecht. Ugly murky looking. Aroma of ripe fruits, cacao, some roast, some candy. Flavour is moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Body is medium. Curious mix of flavours. Interesting beer, but not a complete success.

Fles 33cl thuis. Cacao, rood fruit, zuurtonen, zoeten, ergens bittertje, licht hoptonen, kers. (1-2018).

Bottle. Color: Hazy amber, off-white head. Taste: Somewhat in between a dubbel and a tripel. Little bit yeasty, good noticable chocolate, what also makes this beer a bit sweet. Some bittery hints. Above average carbonation, medium to above medium body.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Mitra Nieuwegein. Clear amber with an off-white head. Caramel aroma with some hops and some faint chocolate. Taste is medium-bitter with some fruity hops. Nice enough beer but the importance of the chocolate as stated on the label is not recognizable in the taste at all.

Bottle from Mitra Bunnik, medium sample. Hazy amber color, medium frothy head. Aroma of spicy yeast, caramel, bit metallic like a belgian ale. Taste is quite sweet, spicy, metallic. Tastes like your average belgian amber or dubbel. No chocolate anywhere to be found. Disappointing.

Bottle shared by Caesar. Hazy reddish color, average sized off-white to beige head. Aroma is sweet, sweet caramel. Taste lightly malts, caramel, sweet, lightly yeast. Uhm, chocolate? Not a trace.

Draft at De Zaak. Pours cloudy orange brown with a small off white head. Aroma of light fruits, weedy, light herbal and malty aspects. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Light medium bodied with soft carbonation.

On tap at Kafé België. Muddy brown colour, off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, cocoa, some fruity notes, light malty. Flavour is medium sweet, light malty, cocoa, dark fruits, alcohol, bitter finish. Light bodied, firm carbonation. Not very good imho.
